Re: Initial state of PRGbanks with MMC1?

This could happen if the MMC1 powered on in PRG Mode #2 (Inverse UxROM) with the fixed bank #0 and the switchable bank also happening to be #0, or in PRG Mode #3 (UxROM) with the fixed bank #15 and the switchable bank also happening to be #15. It could not happen if it powered on in 32 KiB PRG mode.

Re: Initial state of PRGbanks with MMC1?

It's never been explained why one would need an INC instruction rather than a simple STA instruction to write a byte with bit 7 set. The datasheet just tells one to do that, but several games, including Nintendo's own games (Kid Icarus), don't follow that advice and use a normal STA. Is it to save P...

Re: Mapper 163 in a Cpld. Question about the Nes signals.

Then you are not implementing the address line latch properly. I don't see any glitches in those games with it. As far as FCEUX' mapper 163 emulation is concerned, it does not even implement the bit swap properly. As far as I know, only libretro-fceumm and NintendulatorNRS have proper mapper 163 com...

Re: Mapper 163 in a Cpld. Question about the Nes signals.

Again, mapper 163 does not and never had a scanline counter, and certainly not one that follows the MMC5 method of scanline detection; it would be insane to implement such a thing. FCEUX just implemented one in lieu of more accurate hardware emulation.

Re: completing iNES mappers

Mapper 54 is basically a bad mapper assignment and can be freed for reallocation. No game or multicart in nes20db uses it. There are several reset-based multicarts, mapper 60, mapper 313, and mapper 374. Mapper 60 has been allocated in the last century, and I see no reason to reopen the debate on wh...

Re: NES 2.0 XML Database

Thank you, but the filenames in the comments are not officially a part of the database. I am in fact considering removing them completely, since people are using them for unintended purposes.

Re: Name of this game?

You mean, the Sachen 3009 board with the strangely-wired Namco 108 clone? Yes, that was probably a dopey attempt at copy protection with built-in "chip burn-in" for dumpers that did not pay attention.

Re: Name of this game?

Canonically mapper 133, though for this game, mapper 079 world work as well, since it only has 32 KiB of PRG ROM. In fact, this Milmar board looks just like an AVE NINA-003/NINA-006 board.

Re: VT03 famiclone that takes normal carts?

The VT32 and VT369 do not swap duty cycles. And no VT03 emulator swaps the duty cycles, to my knowledge, not even EmuVT, which is part of VRT's development kit.

Re: VT03 famiclone that takes normal carts?

I was responding to two questions that you asked: "How official should we consider VT03?", and the answer was that it was official in the sense that it was used for some properly-licensed releases; "Is it like someone hacked an emulator and we should ignore that?", and the answer...

My meaning was that the VTxx hardware preceded the emulation of the VTxx, not the emulation of the NES. :)

Re: VT03 famiclone that takes normal carts?

I don't quite understand. What difference does it make that software emulation existed in 1997?
