I was doing this with the AGS101 in mind. Keyword: was. No idea how to proceed.

Re: How to edit (existing) Game Boy Color palettes?

The principle is the same. The complications are also the same (if the game uses compression, etc etc, that simple approach won't work on either platform). What I meant is, what emulator/software I use for this. Also I'm not sure how compression comes into play, I'm talking about changing palette v...

How to edit (existing) Game Boy Color palettes?

To keep it short - changing palettes in NES games is super easy, just open the PPU viewer in FCEUX, find the palette you want to change then write the new color over it in the hex editor. I'd like to know how to do this for GBC. In particular, I'd like to change the colors of the Ghosts and Goblins ...

Re: Project Nested - NES emulator for SNES

Castlevania (J version aka Akumajou Dorakyura) can be beat without any issues  https://youtu.be/vIY7zGNvhkU

By the way Mr Myself86, if there's any game you'd like me to play, feel free to ask!

Any palette that doesn't make the ship in Castlevania 3 green doesn't offend me

Re: Trying to figure out which RGB palette is canonical

What I can say is, while I was developing my palette generator, I noticed that when you lower the contrast level of the palette, you can bring the out-of-gamut colors back into RGB range without needing to clip anything, in which case, they should look pretty faithful. This has the effect of darken...

Re: Trying to figure out which RGB palette is canonical

Finally, the most ideal NES/FC palette is one that most modern monitors (as of 2022 at least) will be unable to display (many light blue and light red colors are out of RGB range), so just be aware of that. :P Is this why the lighter colors from the bottom collumn are so damn hard to see? Also, tha...

Are these two the same? Because I'm totally willing to accept "pre 1987 ntsc J" as canonical
Would you happen to know of palette files constructed based on the standards you pointed?

Re: Trying to figure out which RGB palette is canonical

1- Do the NES and Famicom output different colors? Awful online research seems to indicate otherwise, but it doesn't hurt to ask. If they do, it becomes abundantly obvious using the NES as a reference is fruitless. We can just stop here: different versions of the PPU generate (subtly) different col...

Trying to figure out which RGB palette is canonical

Everybody knows the NES doesn't output RGB, and it's not by coincidence NTSC stands for never the same color (I know it doesn't, chill) - in practice, defining an RGB palette for the NES is a matter of taste and opinion. But that doesn't cut it for me. I'm trying to figure out which palette was the ...

How to make Castlevania start on the second loop? (stage 19)

I'm very new to 6502 and trying to debug the game myself is going nowhere. As far as I know, making the game start on "STAGE 19" would do the trick but I can't figure out how to. By the way, I'm using the japanese version since it has an easy mode and there is only one revision so no rom c...

Cart to FDS conversions?

Here's something quite absurd I found.

Image

Is this real? Were these dumped? Could games without mappers/with simple mappers be easily converted to FDS?

Re: Project Nested - NES emulator for SNES

Hi "Myself"! This project is as awesome as ever. I just found out about your patreon, and I really wish I could become a patron, but for many reasons I can't. Maybe someday! I've tested out some games for fun and got some weird results not yet documented to my knowledge. Also, the load SRM...
