Re: LandyNES
Thanks for sharing. I love stuff like this. Gotta try it out! It makes me wonder what other emulators I'll someday need to run in future emulators. It seems it was the emulator that iNES was based on, definitely a big part of emulation history. It seems to take raw PRG/CHR dumps like Mame. The good ...

Re: Cartridge database
Thanks for putting this out there. Having this centralized and searchable in this form is very useful. I look forward to making my insomnia worse as I browse this late at night. You don't happen to have CRC data to go along with all of these? That would be EXTREMELY helpful in linking dumps to known...

Re: Coconuts Japan Pachinko Controller
Cool, thanks for investigating and sharing this. Though, it looks like the read address was accidentally reverted to $4017 D1 in the wiki again. This doesn't seem to be correct in emulation at least. Can you confirm? Based on the visible numbers on the board where it looks like they connect, the fiv...

Re: Video Game 3150 (old multicart with switches)
i didn't know that krzysiobal had already documented this cart; i didn't find that post while searching the forums. I rather like these switch-based carts so I don't mind the repeat :) Interesting that yours doesn't have the little Video Game System gnome image on the left under the switches. So th...

Re: Video Game 3150 (old multicart with switches)
What happens if you pick ↓↓↓↓↑? actually, it brings up SMB, as seen above. So it brings up SMB and it looks the exact same as ↓↓↓↓↓ and works without glitches? Without clarification the mapper 360 wiki entry implies that it would bring up SMB with horizontal mirroring (you'd see various bricks on t...

Re: M8 kiosk
Unlike the M8, it contains a custom chip which I don't believe has been publicly documented. Nobody, except Kevtris: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFmWonCq0Vg. There are hours of other vids too where they replace the ASIC with a PIC among other things. Feel free to watch them all and summarize :)

Re: Sharp C1 cannot use expansion audio?
I don't think Sharp really thought that they were sacrificing expansion audio, the C1 was released very early in the Famicom's life, before the Disk System and any game using expansion audio AFAIK, so there were probably no incompatible cartridges at the time of release. Right, the FDS didn't come ...

Re: Sharp C1 cannot use expansion audio?
Well, if there is a built-in ROM that might be why it needs to detect if something is in the cartridge slot. The builtin Canvas is always loaded as the next mode after TV mode, regardless of the presence of a cart though. I'm guessing if the cart detection by audio pin thing bears out that it's jus...

Re: Sharp C1 cannot use expansion audio?
I assume the C1 automatically boots the cart and switches from TV mode to Famicom mode when a cartridge is inserted... or perhaps doesn't allow you to switch to the Famicom when there's no cart. There's a "TV/Canvas/Game" button on the front that cycles through TV, builtin ROM, and cart i...

Re: M8 kiosk
Nobody's seen this thing in motion and knows the high level behavior of the timer? M82 alternates back and forth between one of the games and then the built-in ROM (similar to FamicomBox). I'd guess M8 would just cycle through all 16, returning to the splash screen once per cycle. There's no point i...

Re: Sharp Famicom Titler
Has nobody taken a decent image of the boards yet? Best I could find is this blurry fellow: https://i.imgur.com/kNivd0S.jpeg I think I can squint out that there's an MMC1B1, X1252CE (our 512K ROM?), two LH5164D-10Ls (8K RAM for PRG and CHR respectively?), and two LH5216D-12s (two 2K pages for main R...

Very nice. I don't suppose anybody bothered to verify the contents of all the game EPROMs?
