Re: Making an enemy move along surfaces

Could you try setting breakpoints and single stepping through it in Mesen-S or bsnes-plus?

Re: SPC700 Timer Reset Question

Here's what anomie has to say regarding the CONTROL register bits 0-2, bold emphasis mine: 012 = Enable timer 0, 1, or 2. See registers $00fa-f. When transitioning from 0 to 1, the timer Stage 2 and 3 counters are both reset to 0. Note however that the Stage 1 'counter' is not reset. As stage 3 is t...

Re: What does LRCK stand for?

Oh, sorry, I meant the S-DSP chip that's connected to the SPC700 and ARAM, not the enchantment chip. Those MX signals in fullsnes appear right below the LRCK.

Isn't that just the hex editor pasting starting at where the cursor is?

Re: What does LRCK stand for?

What about those 3 MX pins (DSP.Pin3,4,5)? That sounds like the MX pin on the 65816, for accuMulator and indeX. According to the superfamicom wiki, they are not connected:

https://wiki.superfamicom.org/schematic ... pinout-296

The DSP isn't anything like the Ricoh CPU, so idk.

Re: Need Help Getting Mega Man X SA-1 Rom Hack to work on Hardware.

So by mirroring you mean certain high address lines are unused, so the Ricoh CPU sees a duplicate of the ROM memory if it were to iterate through the address space?

In that case, could you try copying and pasting the data in a hex editor?

Re: Console wars, OS wars, editor wars, and shared resources

The bottom line here is that Iwata was right - video games are about fun for everyone. The most fun I've had playing non-Nintendo consoles wasn't when some fanboy was trying to shove their reasons why their games or consoles were better down my throat and insult what Nintendo does (no company is per...

Re: long dots

Thanks; I've been digesting these replies for awhile and think I understand enough to paraphrase: The pixel clock is always ticking, even during hblank. Most dots are 4 master clock cycles long, but long dots are 5 cycles long. This is what is meant by "slowing down the pixel clock." When ...

Re: The leftmost tile in offset-per-tile mode

The leftmost fetch comes from the normal scrolling registers. Every subsequent one is loaded from VRAM. Yes, that is how I interpret the statement. So, it appears that this quirk was fixed in the PPU revision that I have. It will be fascinating to see what else all changed once we have the PPUs dec...

The leftmost tile in offset-per-tile mode

Does anyone know anything about when this quirk happens? Offset-per-tile never affects the first (leftmost) tile I do not observe this behavior in Yoshi's Island World 1-7: Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy on my 2/1/3 console. All the tiles in the leftmost column appear to move when Yoshi is dizzy. Source: htt...

Re: SRAM protection?

I think there are plenty of ways that not explaining the save process well can go wrong. When I was in elementary school, the kid in front of me in the line for recess had a Game Boy in an outside pocket of his backpack where anyone could easily mess with it. I turned it on as a joke and was very su...
