Re: simple dev cart for Famicom?

Got it, thanks!

I found a nice simple explanation of the FDSStick here for anyone else looking for a summary of what it does and how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyDLHbt67FU

Re: simple dev cart for Famicom?

I just put a bid in on a RAM adapter, and thinking to buy the FDSStick here: http://www.tototek.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=196 It talks about this mod chip potentially being required though: http://www.tototek.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_35&...

Re: simple dev cart for Famicom?

Sorry for the very late reply, somehow I missed your response! But as a developer it's nice to have a simpler dev-cart for slapping on some EPROMs on (you need to cut a hole in the cartridge shell to fit slotted ROM chips though). Yes, this is exactly what I'm looking for. Mostly NROM, and maybe UxR...

Re: First cartridge prototype questions

Thank you so much! It worked first time!!

I spent a few hours wiring it and checking with a multimeter last night, your answer gave me the courage to power it on

First cartridge prototype questions

Hi all. I'm prototyping a Famicom cartridge using a flash chip for PRG in a ZIF socket, and jump wires into IDC headers. A few basic questions please (I'm new to electronics, so apologies for the basic questions). 1. The flash chip has 2 unused address lines. Can I just tie unused inputs on the flas...

simple way to see visualize code timing?

On the C64, a very easy way to "profile" code is to change the border color at the start and end of different sections of code. That way, you can see how many scanlines your code is taking in real time. Is there a similar trick available on the NES? Near as I can see, there are no register...

"hello world" tune in FamiStudio

I'm not musician, but wanted to get a feel for the 2A03 APU, so I smashed this together with FamiStudio as a learning project.

If you like repetitive music, portamento, and square waves, this is for you I guess.. :P

Re: FamiStudio 2.0.0 Released!

Just commenting to say, FamiStudio is awesome! I used trackers back in the day, but don't have the patience for them now. I'd never used anything with a piano roll before, but with a simple goal in mind and some quick experimentation I was able to pick up FamiStudio fairly quickly, even with my shor...

Re: simple dev cart for Famicom?

Thank you for the detailed reply! That's very helpful. The Everdrive N8 looks perfect, but a bit out of my price range, especially with the $US being what it is at the moment :( If my budget was in that ballpark though, it would do exactly what I want. I think the NESMaker option with an adapter mig...

simple dev cart for Famicom?

Hi all. I bought an old Famicom and a Family Basic with a keyboard on a whim, and have been enjoying the rabbit hole that is getting it working, playing old games, buying cartridges, emulators etc. The wiki is very useful, and I've started experimenting with C and neslib. Seems like a great communit...
