Re: top loader - getting rid of bad video, lets figure this

I took a shot in the dark and tried to follow as much of the japanese tutorial as possible. I added a 4.7uf cap replacing the cap at c11, this is on the Famicom by the way, and man what a difference that one cap made. I'm going to try replacing the rest. But that is the best my famicom has ever look...

That's why the Atari 5200 was able to use the same cord for power and video without frying your t.v. I'm just slightly amazed at the frailty of some of these I.C.'s I've never had things just blow out this easily. I just want to get rid of the jailbars from my famicom :(

By putting the capacitor there it filters off the noise and creates a clearer picture. but if you really look at the screen close it kind of blurs the screen a little so you don't see white bars. and yes I didn't let the cap discharge for I put it on backwards.

Seems I did it again. Had it working. This time tried using a 100 uF cap. Screen was looking great and the lead slipped over to the next pin and now all I get is a yellow screen. I have never encountered an i.c. that is so fragile. Only have 1 spare PPU left before I have to run up to Play N Trade. :(

Fried the PPU?

Was doing a av mod on a famicom and was trying to clean up the picture by putting a capacitor between the 5 volt and neg pins of the PPU and accidentally switched the polarity without it discharging and I think I fried the chip. Goonies displays normally but locks up as soon as you start. SMB won't ...

Yeah I need the 486 because it uses an isa expansion slot and because of timing issues it really can't use anything faster. I tried it in a pentium once and started gettting all kind of errors. I just use a monitor switcher and a 16bit network card so I can transfer files back and forth with windows...

I got a logical devices a few years back for 50.00 had to pick up a 486 to use it but it works great especially for the older Atari and Nes stuff. I need to get a newer one know that I'm expanding into the SNES. I can't program anything over a 512k eprom.

sony studio monitor help.

Don't know where else to ask so here goes. I purchased 2 sony pvm 1342q monitors the other day. One shuts off periodically no reason why it would. After a couple minutes you can turn it back on. Sometimes it stays on sometime it immediately shuts itself off. and there is no set time limit. Yesterday...

The lack of external audio really killed it for me. It's just that a lot of websites always say how great the top loader is. I used to have one but an ex stole it when she left. I'll just stick with the toaster.

Why get a top loader?

Been thinking about getting one, but after looking into it I'm better off just staying with the toaster. Any reasons why everyone loves the toploader? or why I should get on...
