Re: About the MMC3 Mapper and Address Conversions

If you’re in Mesen’s debugger and choose Code>PRG Address Display>Inline Compact Display, then that will show the addresses on the left side of the debugger window as: CE01 [3C] and that just means the ROM Address is supposed to be 3CE01 for that line. It’s always like that… just truncate the left m...

Re: Why a lot of 8-bit (or alike) developers think we loved excessive difficulty?

But many (especially indie) developers are trying to replicate ninja-gaiden experience and after one of these I made this topic. :) I absolutely loved Ninja Gaiden, partly because it was so difficult. I ended up getting super far, but don’t remember beating it. :) IMO, Ninja Gaiden is spectacular! ...

Re: 8x16 and whatever else unreg wants to know

The difference between (ZP,X) and (ZP),Y regards whether the indexing is done before or after the indirection. The matter of the carry only has to do with the fact that the ZP address (in both cases) has to be in ZP. IOW, if you do ($F1,X) and X contains $15, it will not pick up the address from $0...

Re: Trying to dump my first NES game... :)

[EDIT]Sry, here’s his last post in this thread (also from 2020): Thanks for your interest wiqueb! I also waited years fo...

Re: 8x16 and whatever else unreg wants to know

Umm.. aahhh! I’m perishing… sry… I guess if:

Code: Select all

.enum $700
The .dsb 1
At .dsb 1
Start .dsb 1
Very .dsb 1
.ende
was in the (zp),y example that would be ok too.

Re: 8x16 and whatever else unreg wants to know

(zp,x) means: Fetch the 16 bit address stored at (zp+x). Use that as an address. Load/store that byte. ;(zp,x) ;asm6 code bc that’s all I know .enum 0 The .dsb 1 ;@ $0000 At .dsb 1 Start .dsb 1 ;@ $0002 Very .dsb 1 ptr_lo .dsb 1 .ende .base $C000 ;no reset here, sry ;reset would initialize The, At,...

Re: 8x16 and whatever else unreg wants to know

This post is me trying to fully understand Indexed Indirect Addressing on the 2A03. I’ve read this in MOS’ 6501-6505 preliminary manual from Aug 1975 : INDEXED INDIRECT ADDRESSING - In indexed indirect addressing (referred to as (Indirect,X)), the second byte of the instruction is added to the conte...

Re: 8x16 and whatever else unreg wants to know

The confusion has been planned… I’m purposely talking about bananas, kiwis, pears, and fruit; our game contains NO fruit. :) But, I believe I’m fully understanding the purpose behind your .enum 0s now and it’s coming together! :D Slowly though, bc I was stung by 4 ground hornets recently; one stung ...

Re: 8x16 and whatever else unreg wants to know

.enum 0 BANANA_OFFSET .dsb 4 APPLE_OFFSET .dsb 4 KIWI_OFFSET .dsb 4 PEAR_OFFSET .dsb 4 ;(...) .ende Say I wanted to access the 4s… like 4, 4, 4, 4 would be #BANANA_OFFSET, #APPLE_OFFSET, #KIWI_OFFSET, #PEAR_OFFSET ? Or, that would actually be 0, 4, 8, 12 ? That would be fine too. :) So, if I wanted...

Re: currently going ahead

the horizontal arrow direction is the order of the data thata is trying to be reading by the PPU, it's is arranged like $0000, $0001, $0003, $0004 in where the red arrow is indicating, the questions are: how can I generate a .nam archive in the order that green arrow is directionating(the vertical ...

Re: currently going ahead

a.) If the entire screen’s tiles are written horizontally by mistake, that does NOT flip or rotate any tile. The screen’s arrangement would just be confusing. however they are appearing only flipped/turned, so the arrangemet of the data are in verticaly order(?) If your data is written to $2007 in ...

Re: currently going ahead

now I'm trying to understand what sector of the code I have to change to do that...or how to change the nametable data to coluns in the NESst edit: "to load 1 byte and then skip 31" means change the bit 2 of $2000 to 0(?) and what more?, that "what more" is what still yet seems ...

I'm trying to fill the ppu whith four .nam archives, all then appear in the screen but fliped/tuned Hmmm… I didn’t dl your ROMs bc I’m on cell phone and have no emulator on my phone; but,: When you say flipped/tuned, you mean flipped/turned? If that’s the case, then maybe the flipping or turning of...

Re: 8x16 and whatever else unreg wants to know

tokumaru, sigh, I think I’m understanding your FruitData much better now. To use this, I’ll have to change the routine: So that it doesn’t run from the beginning of FruitData to its end. Rather, I can use enum 0 to set up each Fruit, and then I’ll have to specify each fruit being loaded… hmm… I bet ...

Re: Mesen - NES Emulator

Is it possible to make Mesen not clear the CDL file when resetting a game? Yes, that is possible. Seems like I reported this much earlier in this thread, and Sour quickly fixed this in a newer version of Mesen. Are you running an older copy of Mesen? My version is DevWin-0.9.9.62 and .cdl files sta...
