I believe the current implementation of MSU-1 on the sd2snes doesn't allow saving, though... I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read that not too long ago.

You want to use the patch with other games? Well, I don't think a "universal MSU1 patch" can be made... You'll have to find or make one for each game with which you want to use MSU1.

Irfanview is a fine suggestion! If it doesn't work, you can probably do it with ImageMagick as well.
