Re: What is a .ips file?
Because in my opinion, uncertainty about the law is worse than violation of the law. They're both uncertain about the law *and* violating it. At any rate, I'm not a believer in utilitarian ethics, so I'm not obliged to inform people about something just because doing so helps them. In fact, the req...

Re: What is a .ips file?
Why does recognizing a copyright infringement require that I report one?

Re: What is a .ips file?
I'm sorry, the idea that an IPS file avoids violating copyright is ludicrous. First of all Micro Star v. Formgen ruled that a user-created mod to a video game is a copyright violation if the modified game uses any of the story or setting of the original game, even if the mod doesn't contain anything...

Murasame castle?
The 3DS has a game called Murasame Castle--which is really a Famicom game translated officially for the first time ever on the 3DS virtual console. The game has been dumped. So does this game contain a translated ROM and has anyone managed to extract the translated ROM and emulate it separately from...

Re: Fixing ROMs for EMS 64 GB Smart Card USB
Also if you were playing a game that used SRAM on page two, then you quit. Until the menu runs again, your save data resides in a common area that will be overwritten by the program in page one if that program uses SRAM. Then when the menu in page two runs again when it backs up the data for your g...

Re: EMS 64MB usb cart multiple saves?
Observation: I have a 64 in 1 Chinese multicart. You boot it up, it provides a menu (in GBC mode), and it lets you pick a game, most if not all of which are GB games. After you pick a game, it then brings you back to the Gameboy Color bootup screen. You can use buttons/directions to pick palettes, a...

Re: EMS 64MB usb cart multiple saves?
So in short, you *have* to set DMG compatibility mode for full compatibility. But you can't, because it appears that the special registers that do this are only writable while the bootstrap rom is enabled. And you can't re-enable the bootstrap rom. Is it possible to set the color palettes while in ...

Re: EMS 64MB usb cart multiple saves?
For games without custom palettes, atleast 3 user selectable palettes will be available. CGB default (for any game that has no hash match), a gray scale palette, and a green to black scale palette. Is it possible to do this without interfering with the ability to select various palettes using direc...

Re: EMS 64MB usb cart multiple saves?
One idea is CGB palettes from the CGB bootstrap could be implemented, both user selectable and auto detected game specific. Hey, I was going to suggest that. And another suggestion: Although the CGB bootstrap palettes are implemented on the GBA, the GBA's screen doesn't respond the same as the GBC'...

Re: EMS 64MB usb cart multiple saves?
Does your new menu have GB mode and GBC mode versions? The standard menu for the cart runs games in GBC mode even if you are using it for GB games. In order to get it to run games in GB mode (and thus have the same palette-selection features as a GB game) I had to upload games with a menu, download ...
