Cleaning pcbs
I make and work on many pcb’s. Arcade coin-op is my background and many of my Pcbs are very dirty. I’ve used Isopropyl and tooth brushes to clean the smaller ones but I’ve heard stories of people putting Pcbs in a dishwasher. At first, This seems crazy but aren’t all the chips hermetically sealed? O...

Re: SFC Repro cart noob questions
You’ll want to acquire some good side cutters. Plato 170 or similar. I’ve used the radio shack style desoldering iron my entire life (like mentioned above). Love it. One technique with a hot air station is to cut the rom off and then remove the pins individually. Cutting the legs next to the plastic...

Re: SFC Repro cart noob questions
You can also get a variety of Pcbs from Mortoffgames.com The “simple save” is a very simple to use cart. https://mortoffgames.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=961&search=Snes They also sell DIY Pcbs too where you get a bare pcb with the CIC included, and “build” the cart to wha...

Re: [GB cartridge] SRAM -> FRAM
Don’t forget that the sram is powered by the battery controller and at power off, the battery will still try power the Fram, probably corrupting it. So when you do a flashram replacement, you’ll need to mod the cart a little by removing the battery power to just the ram , and powering the ram from t...

Maybe post a picture of your build?
Maybe the sram isn’t mounted very good?

Re: GBC Pokémon crystal MBC30 question
I heard of a Pokemon hack using it. Pokemon Coral which looks like a hack of Pokemon Crystal. MBC30 also offers 64 kB SRAM compared to MBC3's 32 kB according to my notes. Right, the sram on the cart is 1mB (128kB) but A16 is just grounded leaving only 512k (64kB) available to the mapper. Oddly enou...

GBC Pokémon crystal MBC30 question
I know that the MBC30 in a Pokémon Crystal can accommodate a 4mB rom (compared to the normal MBC3 which can only accommodate a 2mB rom). My question is, are there any hacks or games that are bigger than 2mB where the MBC30 would be necessary to run those game hacks?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: What is this reproduction?
It says “NES 240” on the pcb
So it appears to be a NES map240?

Re: Atari Jaguar won’t stay turned on
As long as I have owned this Jaguar (3 years+) the power switch has always been a momentary switch and worked as such. It's a latching switch that's designed to feel like a momentary switch. The latch has broken. A replacement switch will fix the problem. Ok, are there known replacements available?...

Re: Atari Jaguar won’t stay turned on
According to this excellent schematic , there's no latch circuit. The voltage regulator (U38, bottom right) runs while the power switch is closed to tie pin 2 to GND, and stops when the switch is open and R168 pulls pin 2 to +9V. Thanks for that. As long as I have owned this Jaguar (3 years+) the p...

Re: Atari Jaguar won’t stay turned on
I have an Atari Jaguar console that operates only if I hold the power button on. As soon as I let go of the power button, it turns off. It’s not the cartridge slot. I am aware that a cartridge must be inserted for the console to turn on. Maybe it’s some kind of latch circuit that keeps the power on...

Re: 12Mbit game Repro with different PCB
Using a 1A3M donor, you shouldn’t need to mirror anything. Loading the rom as-is is all you need to do. Now, the question is if the EVO has any region protections? I don’t know. But hardware, you shouldn’t need to mirror. Hello, I'd like to make a repro for myself of the game "E.V.O. Search for...
