Re: Dream: Land of Giants
You can look at the GBA version. GBA is very close to SNES in graphical abilities, it's a good approximation.

Re: Dream: Land of Giants
IIRC Rayman was originally on SNES, and you can find pics of it (not sure if any ROM was leaked).

Re: Dual D-Pad Controls (and a minor rant)
I have a bunch of questions, but I don't even know where to start. :oops: Here's one: can the game be programmed to work with both NES and Famicom using the controller ports of the NES and the expansion port of the Famicom (with custom SNES multitaps of course)? Yes. It's just more hw to design and...

Re: Dual D-Pad Controls (and a minor rant)
^ 8 players on NES, yikes. VB sales were a tiny 770k, and most are probably scrap by now, so controllers aren't going to be common either. Plus a failed console doesn't really have third parties making accessories. Four SNES controllers using a cable adapter like rainwarrior described might be easie...

Little Medusa from Mega Cat has a free demo.

Re: Over five million SNES Classic Minis sold . . .
Some Sega person, when asked about a 32x mini, said they don't have a good emulator for that, and if they did, they'd release a Saturn mini (same cpu arch). Nintendo has commented they're not planning any more minis. DC and N64 controllers are too large, significantly higher shipping and storage cos...

Re: Does anyone take on commissions for nes games
Yes, many folks here, me included. However budget expectations are often unrealistic, especially if you compare to eastern coders on Upwork offering cheap mobile sidescrollers. NES work, both from-scratch and hacking, is highly specialized, and experienced programmers aren't cheap. For a ballpark fi...

@Dwedit
Sorry, don't remember which one it was.
@Timaeus
It's fine to use the SRAM area, you just need to avoid being lazy like that hack.

Re: Add a new bank in MMC1 and use the new space
Be careful though, there's been at least one hack before that just expected the SRAM contents to be pre-supplied. It didn't write them itself, and didn't work otherwise (IIRC it crashed late in the game or similar).

Re: Ganbare Goemon 2 English Translation - 28 Pin Mask ROMs
It sounds like it cannot access the data in the new, expanded banks. Look into the address line that goes over the original 128k.
edit: you could try this theory in an emulator too, by writing garbage over the patched rom's latter prg half.

Re: Rough figures for mono, stereo and surround sound?
No, it appears to be Dolby surround, such that four channels get encoded into the two analog outputs.
I can't think of anyone ever having a SNES connected to surround speakers, or what would be the point in 2d games. 3d totally make sense, you can hear where the stuff is happening, but 2d?

Isn't the mechanism all different? NES Zapper detecting white (or any bright light) and the SNES scope detecting the CRT pulse?

Gotta max that run, and having a death count above zero would lose e-points.
