NEXXT - a newer "NES Screen Tool"

Been posting this before in small circles, but now that it's on itch, i figured it was time for a proper thread. NEXXT is my personal continuation of Shiru's NESST. At first i was just adding shortcuts and work safety features but as i grew more confident using c++, i started to add the features i m...

Re: NES Screen Tool

Is it possible to enlarge an already existing map (...) Yes! First, you add the size just like you're proposing. Then you can shift the contents of the map down in place. Then; Ctrl + Shift + Arrow Keys- rotate nametable with attributes (2 chars per step) So, do that command.. 15 times for a screen...

Re: NESMaker reviews?

Was I wrong to take a job at Retrotainment Games? If this was hypothetically the only thing you did, you'd still be an "8 bit" hero. Honestly. If there was no form of monetary compensation involved in making new NES titles whatsoever, we'd maybe see a "full-featured" title once ...

Re: NESMaker reviews?

On the tool What bananmos said resonated with me. Also, i think the reason why NESmaker doesn't resonate as much here as with the new crowd it made aware and brought into the fold, is simply in the "no coding required" mission statement. To a programmer who enjoys programming as a spare t...

Re: NESMaker reviews?

Even "doesn't take CHR files" would be fine if the asset format were documented. It does take chr files, by means of import. but you can't work on them directly inside the suite in that format. The import process itself is one click too many, but it's manageable. The key here is using NES...

Re: NESMaker reviews?

Please note that i'm not taking sides when reading this. I pretty much think the "sides" is an artificial dialectic anyway and we'd do much better without this barrier. In this post, i'm listing things i think are good, and bad. I'm not sure how the internal painting tool could be consider...

Re: converting PAL NES to NTSC

it's not the temperature buildup i'm worried about - Just drawing a parallel to when the differing draws of my custom peripheral could throw the reads and writes of data out of whack, leading to everything from small glitches to complete program freeze. It's not the same device, and i'm just a hobby...

Re: converting PAL NES to NTSC

The system hanging up or the audio reading wring suggests it's not just a compatibility problem between the PPU and the mod. It sounds like you're having electrical problems on the buses. A custom peripheral i made had similar problems on simultaneous startup with the base unit - perhaps too much cu...

Hey, crawling out of the woodworks.
Is there a semi-automated way or something for merging disparate FT files into one?

Also yeah the kickstarter is live now! Hope you'll enjoy the trailer :)

Re: Soko Banana

That seems to be an older build of the game. Note that the HUD is not as developed as the one attached here, and the grass and obstacles are different.
