I wonder what the chips are. Could you post the manufacturers and part numbers?

I now have a new problem. For some reason, my joypad-reading routine always shows that A is pressed (#%10000000). Why? Newest build available here.

EDIT: Sorry, they came up after I reloaded the page, for some reason.

I don't see any pictures. Is the server down?

The Tic-Tac-Toe debugging thread

I'm starting new project (Tic-Tac-Toe) and it gives me a flash of grey for one frame and then nothing when I load it into an emulator (Nestopia even says "CPU jam!"). Why won't it load? Download the file here.

I think Moon Crystal updates CHR-RAM to show animation, considering how smoothly the characters move. I'll have to check. EDIT: Strangely enough, it doesn't use CHR-RAM, but it does dynamically update the characters (sort of). I've noticed that there is a 32-tile area in the pattern table that chang...

2. Possibly RE-Makeit for the PC. (Then must rename SMB to SUPER PC BROS or something it so no copyright infrigment could not happen) Search for "Great Giana Sisters." Yup, no trouble with copyrights there! You know MARIO? Mario who? The R&B singer? Can't say that I do, sorry.

Actually, I like it, to some extent. It really does look authentic. But, you know, I prefer RGB for every console from the SMS onwards. I would say ESPECIALLY the SMS, since there's rainbowing and chroma artifacts everywhere. Actually, I'd like to see it in more emulators, especially ones of YUV-onl...

Pretty much any first-generation NES game (black with pixelly art) has CHR-ROM. There's a .txt on the main site that has how much PRG-ROM and CHR-ROM/RAM each NES game has.

Those top pins are really hard to see. How do you get to them, how far do you have to push them down, and how can you tell if you did it right before you put it back in the NES?

Yes. VROM (or CHR-ROM) is a ROM chip inside a NES cartridge that contains all of the "tile data" (the bitmaps of the 8 pixel by 8 pixel "tiles" used to make up the background and sprites). However, what colors the background/sprites are (the palette) and where they go (name table...

Is the top row the row with the "hidden" pins (the pins you can't easily see if you remove the connector?)? How would you pull out these pins?

Improving the NES front-loader connector

So I went to play my NES recently, and as always, that 72-pin connector was making my game playing SO MUCH FUN. Push the cartridge in, press down really hard and turn it on, and... blinking light. Let's try this again, push it in, turn it on, and... grey screen of nothing. Okay, again, push it in, t...

I didn't know about those settings in Nestopia. I played around with them, and now I'm viewing games and demos in the nastiness of composite video! Thanks Blaarg!
