Those Ninja Gaiden 3 screenshots are using a truly awful emulator palette (Nesticle?) The foreground foliage (i.e. the platforms you can walk on) should be yellow-green, not brown, and the background bushes should be brown, not bright red. I wouldn't know which emulator they used, but you're right....

Nice! Your review opened my eyes for details I've never noticed before. I love the use of the blue highlight in the waterfall scene. Mind if others (me) post their own graphics reviews here as well? Can't promise anything, but I'd like to take apart Gimmick! some time. It seems like you'd really nee...

What is really the hard thing to do is enemies and bosses. I have really some trouble to make cool enemies, and even more trouble to decide how they'll act on the field. In fact chances are that 80% of my enemies will just walk randomly on the field because I can't come up with anything else, hopef...

By your explanation, it seems to be Seirei Densetsu Lickle, or the english version called Little Samson. You cannot transform but you have to change between character which is a guy in armor (orange) Hmm yeah, seems there aren't many famicom games like that. So I think it was either released for an...

Help me find the name of a famicom platformer
Alright, so I've been looking for a famicom game which I once saw an article about on a random website. It is supposedly similar to Little Nemo: The Dream Master in that you could play as (or transform into?) different characters. It was a Japan-only release. Unfortunately, that's about all I can re...

I started with C, but had no success in understanding anything until I switched to QBASIC. Fun to see so much of us nesdevrs were into it at some point. I don't remember many QBASIC RPGs, but there was a really fun one I can't remember the name of. Maybe you guys can help me? It took place on just o...

It doesn't seem to be $4018, and $4019 though. When I write them the displayed cyc, ave, and max values don't change. I would appreciate it if you could figure out the right registers. This looks like what I want. I think it's $401E and $401F. Quite a handy tool, discovered it a while ago in that t...

Willkommen, also gibt es wirklich Deutsche, die sich für die NES-Programmierung interessieren, wo doch die meisten lieber ihrem C64 treu bleiben. Schön! :) Translation: Welcome, so, while most Germans prefer the C64, there are some interested in NES programming after all. That's cool! Anyway, it's a...

There's a small community of NES enthusiasts in germany, but they're mostly collectors, their site is more like the german equivalent of nintendoage. I'm not sure if people would be any more interested in giving nesdev a try if there were german tutorials, but I do know it might help them understand...

Great idea. I don't think I was aware of miau's platformer til now. Looks really nice miau! I love the castlevania 2 reference, lol. :) I've been a bit shy of saying anything about my project yet, but maybe I will put an entry in there and make an announcement here when it is ready. Thanks! Not tel...
