Apparently you have to be a member to even read the posts at the digitpress forum. That's as bad as the New York Times, bleah.
Only for certain sections. And for the record, a subscription to The New York Times is not free. DP is.

It may be possible to make a working replica, but not possible to make one that looks exactly like the original. So for those reading this wanting to make one and pass it off as real, there are many subtle details about an NWC cart that if faked, would fail serious srutinous tests.

Using a ribbon cable connected to the exp port, and routing it out from under the breakaway plastic, you wouldn't have break the plastic, but you would have a ribbon connector hanging out. One alternative I imagine (for the CV3 example) is to wire the cartridge connector's pins internally to the cor...

It is to adjust the time settings of the competition. The official tournament time to get through all three games is 6 minutes, 20 seconds (give or take a fraction of a second).

I believ you move only switch three to get this setting, iirc.

Futurelec also makes custom PCBs based on your designs for very good prices. THe first one costs the most, iirc, but subsequent boards are peanuts.

nope, according to this site (I only own SMB.. so I havn't seen the other ones):

Whoa. I guess there are way more VS games than I'd thought. I thought there was only 5-10 early NES titles and maybe Castlevania thrown in for good measure.

Rather than add code to the game to correct the pallette, why didnt he just put the VS PPU into the NES? It wasn't clear to me whether he flashed the rom to a cart or if it is internal like the VS system. If it is possible to just swap the PPU instead of reprogramming the games, it would be really c...

OK, got the dimensions. I'm glad I finally got around to posting this, because I've been meaning to for a while and some other folks were asking me for it. Flat Ribbon Style, 2mm wide (approx .080 inch), but fds may take 3mm (.120 inch) or 4mm (.160 inch) wide also. It is just slightly less than 1mm...

Kyuusaku, was it you or someone else that mentioned to me that they thought it was for RAM expansion and that the Hacker Pro is the only one that took advantage of it for this particular reason? I always thought of it as similar to the port on the bottom of the NES...just in case expansion is needed...

I had a major computer crash recently, so I haven't gotten to follow your advice yet, folks. I'll let you know when I give CopynesW a shot, but seriously, thanks so much!

Code: Select all

I've dumped 2 different GARs, and their SRAM memory is completly different!
Maybe the game saves for the last person to use it are part of the file?

Hey Memblers,

Any pics of the new soldering gear (like a manufacturer's link)? I didn't know they even sold something like that for home use!

Hmmm...a little bump. Could anyone tell me the answers to what I asked above: I'm curious, should the screen go blank or anything while the cable is plugged in? I mean, it seems it is always in play mode...is that normal? Oh, and exactly what order should I plug the cable in, turn the software on, a...

Modding a Honeybee for Famicom extra sounds, and other Qs

Does anyone know how one would mod a honeybee to also connect the cart to the NES exp port to take advantage of the extra sounds on some fami carts? Anyone know where I could buy or a way to otherwise make the other gender connector for that port? I'd like to connect a Fami expansion connector to my...
