If the stock Genesis can handle FMV - then the SNES can with some cheap tricks! What about using the S-FX1 (MarioChip) to perform the grunt work for us and move the decompressed data to the tile ram? Also; Its probably not THAT hard to build a PIO IDE Connector (Running in 16-bit no less) controller...

I've actually seen a self contained 'FAT on a Chip' card, it does all the legwork of reading / writing a FAT file system with a MC.

Just uses some simple 'COPY, LOAD, DIR' type commands...

Forget the name however. It was expensive.

AVR's are what $5 these days? shesh.

Synthesiable USB core,
Like one of those:
http://www.opencores.org/projects.cgi/web/usb/overview

Also it seems a transceiver module is needed(?):

http://www.beyondlogic.org/usb/usbhard2.htm

USB provides 5V power, up to 500mA...

The real question is; would a USB core fit on a Spartan-2...?

Why not modify the next PowerPak ot have a USB Type-B port and wire it directly up to some free pins on the FPGA. 5V compliant right?

Then have a special 'Mapper' that acts as a USB device, and some software to flash the boot eeprom.

Strange Discovery: A GBA-Mini Sized FamiClone?

IT claims to 'emulate' (har har In hardware perhaps, poorly at that) NES/FC games. http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.112 http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.827 I suspect the trick is that the NOAC and Flash ram is on the cart, on the console is mostly a empty shell (well probabl...

It looks that way, no archive == no interest. You could ask Recoil whats happening, perhaps he just been busy. Also you might need to 'advertise' the forum, for people to know about it. this might be tricky, as many forum admins can get irritated if you link to something they don't personally approv...

Can those 2 PIC pins be used as input? Would there be enough time between resets for the NES CPU to be initialized enough to read the contoller status? And send that to the PIC? Instead of a 'auto-switch' method. Just print: For Region XYZ Hold A when powering up. For Region ABC Hold B when powering...

Nice, too bad it still can't take CDRW.

Anyone know anything about laser mods?

(greater power input means that CDRWs can be read, however its risky -- a fried diode being the result)

Lithium coin cells tend to destruct if they get too hot, especially when being soldered. And they only last a max of 10 years.

Personnaly I reccomend Nero, it does give you a fairly good set of options.

There is even a Linux version (!).

Kevtris (and team!) does it once again.

Is the assembly source for that PIC available?

You never know when those ninja's will show up

Ok, but there is alot of noise to sort out of the singal; Heres an idea: Copy a 'cleaned' (no-personal info) version of the DB and set that up as a 'historical archive' forum with limited access. Pick a bunch of 'Curators' to go through the threads and reconstruct the important stuff; A Wiki would b...

Yes the data could be stripped quite easily; You will probably need to plug the MySQL backup blob/files into a MySQL engine and either delete/overwrite the offending columns or make a view(s) and redump the data. two or three well SQL commands could do it. Odds are you may even be able to purge most...
