This doesn't have anything to do with whether it's a problem to make repros or not, but regarding the recent surge of posts... I wanted to make sure Memblers saw my post here, what we found when one of the new posters let slip where he came from. Another site is linking to this forum as if it were t...

Yeah, just wanted to echo what Rid said above. Bunnyboy's Nerdy Nights are very good for newbies! Check them out.

Are you translating the Nerdy Nights series, as found here? I thought bunnyboy had made earlier tutorials that were less accurate/complete - Nerdy Nights is the most recent.

In the Multiple Sprites section in Week 5 he does indeed do a CPX #$10.

I can confirm what Tokumaru says, I don't think there's anything that really prepares you for assembly other than learning other languages first. Once you have a basic understanding of loops, if/thens, structures etc. you will have an easier time reconstructing these actions on a more basic level. C...

The reason you can't do this is because each music engine is fully customized based on the needs of the game. Notice that the main Mario theme has a short intro (do do doop do do doop...doop!) and then a part that loops twice followed by another part that loops twice, etc. Is Contra's music formatte...

Mencia didn't pop up out of nowhere without fanfare and disappear forever a few days later.

Actually from what I've seen he does a good job of not having leaps-of-faith. I didn't get far in this game but I noticed in the videos, on the screens with the spikes that flash in and out, there's a good buffer zone or a block to run into so you won't hit the spikes immediately. Right now it seems...

I think there is some fundamental misunderstanding here. Have you read and understood most of nestech? First of all, the NES screen in memory is always 256x240 pixels. The actual TV displayed resolution may be slightly different depending on if the signal is PAL or NTSC, or even individual TVs. But ...

That's kind of extreme for such a benign belief. I'm not saying I think it has any merit but it isn't hurting anything.

This has been argued on forums since time immemorial. :) I'm pretty certain X was never supposed to signify ten, considering we have X-2 instead of XI or eleven. It signifies a split in the series rather than a sequel. This is further confirmed by the fact that 9 does not segue into X in any way. Th...

The walls could definitely render that fast. Scaling, I don't know. Never say something is impossible; I can imagine several ways you might accomplish scaling, though perhaps not on this level. A really crazy person might go ahead and have a full bank for each slight movement. Unwieldy, yes, but pos...

For example when I was a kid, I remember being annoyed that I never knew what was in Mario's question blocks. I designed my own Mario game where question blocks would show the top part of their contents sticking out. What a lame idea! Sega had the same idea, but at least tokumaru would disagree wit...
