NES Repair/mods

Hi, I'm going to attempt a repair of an NES toaster. the device that lowers the cart is disabled. When you try to push down the inserted cart it won't stay down. Is there a tutorial online to repair this issue? Also since I'm prying it open it might be fun to make mods to it, just for fun. Any good ...
