Addendum:
I have now found that #2-56 screws are just about perfect. They're nearly the same size as the NES screws and will thread themselves into the plastic but they are not as large as the #3-48 screws which caused the screw holders on my cart to start cracking.

What type of screws on the cartridge?
Greetings...seems I'm having a lot of trouble these days. I've lost a screw to one of my carts. I realize that the NES screws are made for those "special bits" but I'm just going to buy a flathead equivalent like some of the early games had. Could you just let me know the type of screw tha...

I've been regularly loosing saves on numerous NES, SNES and GBA games. It's really no surprise if you loose saves on a Nintendo board, consider it being a miracle when the saves hold and you'll be allright. If you want reliable saves use emulation, it's really the only way. Wonder why Nintendo neve...

The lithium battery will maintain it's voltage pretty much up until its death. The slight difference in voltage shouldn't be a problem. If you are worried you could look up a datasheet on the SRAM chip in the cartridge and it will tell you the voltage required for data retention. Well this is the o...

Battery Voltage on Cart
Hi I just lost my gave save on one of my games and I'm wondering if it's a freak effect or if my battery is to low. I took out my meter and read the voltage as 3.08V. On a game with a new battery I read the voltage as 3.2V. Is the 0.12V enough to keep the cart from saving games or is this just some ...

Font used for Nintendo Action Series logo
Does anyone know the font that Nintendo used to create the text on the Action Series logo? See the following link: http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu208/dastari/ActionSeries.png My main problems are finding a font that has a "C" that narrow and an "R" that narrow that curves d...

edit: and as you're learning this stuff, ask any questions you have here on the newbie forum. I found the folks here to be extremely patient and helpful when I was first starting out. The first game that I want to take a look at is the original Super Mario Bros. I know it's been done a gazillion ti...

First of all, welcome! Thank you, it is great to find this website. You said you wanted to understand the code of existing games, but what are you trying to accomplish exactly? Do you want to hack games? Study commercial games to learn how to make your own some day? Depending on what you want, we'l...

Hello At the risk of sounding like an idiot and getting told to read the sticky, I just want to point out that I'm so new that a lot of what is in the sticky doesn't make sense to me either. There are tons of acronyms and I don't even know what they're talking about. I'm coming at this from the oppo...
