Re: Fake Dendy prototype Game Grumps prank?
No. I'm not overthinking this and I don't need any philosophical/spiritual advice. This sort of advertising is just (only) downright misleading and they ruined their reputation on top of that

Re: Fake Dendy prototype Game Grumps prank?
I think the reason why so many people bought this idea as "real thing" is probably because they showed that Dendy ethernet cartridge in earlier episodes several times and I've actually seen it. Hey, does anyone have any dump of that thing or is it fake as well?? If this is fake then at lea...

Re: Fake Dendy prototype Game Grumps prank?
How do you think this is fake?? This serial port inside sure looks suspicious, however I wouldnt evaluate the whole thing as fake right away because you think so. New things pop up constantly

Re: RGB Mod streaming question
Capturing RGB now is easier than it ever has been. Two reasonably priced solutions are the Datapath E1/E1s cards, which on ebay can be purchased used for around $100, ... Let's be real clear here about, i.e. talk reality and what the actual products are rather than shortened product names: * Datapa...

Re: RGB Mod streaming question
Yes you are partially right about the costs, although this is all made on so many assumptions. I agree that even RGB is not very necessary for capturing video signal and coincidentally I noticed this is absolutely the WORST option to ever use as a capturing signal. Almost no off-the-shelf video capt...

I love the analogy "why do you want to repair your car if you can buy a Ferrari instead??" xDkoitsu wrote:...or you can just buy an AVS and not worry about any of this nonsense.

Re: RGB Mod streaming question
There isn't much I can say if you don't clarify everything exactly. Which console and model do you want to buy?? In short, every console has some sort of video rail with components in it like resistors, capacitors etc. and the goal is to remove the components that go directly to the composite RCA ja...

Re: RGB Mod streaming question
You can still connect the composite out from NESRGB out to the old RCA jack on the NES. I have no idea why everyone makes such a big deal out of this as this is easy to do as ABC

Re: Snes Jr broken 7805 pads
The issue here is your photos are really chaotic and also out of focus, especially the 1st one. Also the markings "CART CONNECTOR" "MULTIOUT" don't look correct. Notice that there is also an empty space for a capacitor, so this was also probably removed but I'm not sure. Anyway a...

Re: Snes Jr broken 7805 pads
This is really easy- just turn on your soldering iron and turn the temperature to high (due to high heat dissipation here), scrape the green protection layer with a knife near where the traces are gone and solder to them using thick wire. Alternatively you can use multimeter and solder 7805 wherever...

Re: NovaCon 2018 / NESdev midwest meetup (June 16th)
Wouldn't you think this is worth higher advertising and making it more official?? This can be probably a big deal to meet more people from a cameral place like nesdev, probably worth renting a building during that time and collecting entrance fees from people to reimburse for the costs. This would b...

Re: rca composite out to s-video in: a guide.
This definitely isn't the proper way of converting the signals as composite video (as the title says "composite") combines luma and chroma into a single lane and so the chroma bandwidth is significantly limited compared to s-video where it is separated into 2 different lanes. The theory is...

Famicom's potentiometer properties
Hey there, just a hardware question I came across recently. I had some recent troubles modding some Famicom Classics (old classic red & white version with permanent controllers) to AV and RGB and some had weird troubles like completely wrong colors, garbage on video signal etc. I just realized t...
