29L3211 on Sega Genesis/Mega Drive 16bit
I get sick of using 27C322 (4MB) EPROMs and erasing them all the time when I want to program something else, not to mention they mostly fail to erase themselves.... That is why I ask you if I can somehow use a MX29L3211 chip on Sega Genesis?? There are some SOP44->DIP44 adapters available here: http...

Re: Building a reset-based cartridge using a 74LS74/161/163
I suggest to use 74HC393. I just tried the method shown above and unfortunately it doesn't work. The console switches any random game and sometimes it doesn't switch at all and sometimes it even crashes while resetting.... Are you sure there should be a 470pF cap included only?? Is the capacity cor...

Re: Building a reset-based cartridge using a 74LS74/161/163
OK, so that /RESET detector is the converter signal from M2 pin, that's understandable. Well, to put it simple, should I connect that signal to the pin 01 or 02 on LS161?? Should something be left unconnected?? Is there anything more I should do?? @FARID No no no all my games use VRAM so there's no ...

Re: Building a reset-based cartridge using a 74LS74/161/163
Ah that's right, forgot about the diode, sorry.... Should I use that standard 1N4148 diode?? http://i.imgur.com/N0T7C2a.png By the way, I don't quite understand the naming. What's "↑CLK " and /RESET detector?? What should I connect to what?? I'm not quite good in special naming so I'd be g...

Re: Building a reset-based cartridge using a 74LS74/161/163
Great suggestion!! As far as I understand it should be connected this way to the pin 01 (clear)??

where resistor=10K & cap=100pf (101)
But how about the pin 02 (clock)?? Should it be connected directly to M2 connector??

Building a reset-based cartridge using a 74LS74/161/163
Hey there once again!! As the title suggests, I want to build a reset based cartridge which means when you turn the cartridge on- the console selects the first game but when you push the reset button, it switches to the next one. As far as I know a 74LS74 chips includes 2x D-type flip-flops which ap...

Re: Aspect ratio in Super Nintendo games PAL vs. NTSC
That's because it's an NTSC game with NTSC resolution forced on PAL system. Even though you're using your PAL console, it's still the NTSC resolution (the way the game was officially programmed). PAL resolution is actually higher than NTSC (PAL height is a bit higher) so if you want to display an im...

Re: Nintendo: Japan vs. America Corporate
Overall, I don't think Nintendo of America is actually bad after all, you should be even glad to live in there. Don't interpret it wrong but in my opinion you're only just nitpicking in your message. Because you know what REALLY sucks?? Nintendo of EUROPE (or just overall PAL/SECAM region)...... don...

Re: Best analog video capture device??
This actually isn't the kind of thing I'm interested in. Sure you use Sega Saturn's SCART cable but by this setup, you're downgrading the video quality from RGB SCART to composite/s-video while I want to capture pure RGB signal... By the way, it doesn't make any sense. You might as well just use a c...

Re: Best analog video capture device??
Find yourself an HDMI capture device, then get a SCART-to-HDMI cable. This really doesn't make any sense, because as you know SCART wasn't used in Japan or North America, so whatever device you have that's outputting an NTSC signal almost certainly doesn't have native SCART output. That's actually ...

Best analog video capture device??
As the title suggests, do you recommend any good analog video capturing device?? It can be anything, USB device, PCMCIA device, a standalone recorder etc. I've heard that DVD recorders are also good but which brand/model do you recommend?? Even though I live in Europe, ironically I'm mostly interest...

Alright, ironically I've solved the problem myself- I was supposed to swap byte before programming and now the game works perfectly. Thanks for your interest anyway

Sega Genesis/Mega Drive- how to program 3MB on a 27C322??
Hey once again, I've tried to program Donald in Maui Mallard (NTSC hack) on a 27C322 EPROM but the ROM is 3MB, so I did the famous SNES trick- 3MB of data + last 1/3 of data = 4MB of data to fill the whole memory. So after I soldered the IC into my PCB, it doesn't work unfortunately.... There must b...

Best programmer for SNES carts?? Maybe GQ-4X??
I've been wondering what kind of programmer would be the best for SNES programming?? Also I need a programmer for NES and Sega Genesis/MD games so it also needs to be compatible with 16 bit EPROMs. I wonder if GQ-4X would be the best choice, what do you all think?? But I don't think this question sh...
