Re: Broken SNES Game Doctor SF7 For Sale
If I had more knowledge of tracing connections on circuit boards, I'd attempt to fix it myself, but sadly I do not. It's possible that it's a problem with the power regulator as it doesn't seem to be even powering on the SF7 at all since I don't hear a buzzing sound from the floppy drive. When it wa...

Re: Broken SNES Game Doctor SF7 For Sale
I don't see the main menu when turning it on with the SNES and external power. I just see a black screen. The floppy drive doesn't light its LED either or make a sound. I had been using a Sega Genesis power supply for powering the unit. I checked that the polarity of the power supply was correct and...

SNES Game Doctor SF7 Restored
I have a broken Game Doctor SF7 with the DSP1 and original connector and 128mbits of memory that I'm looking to sell to someone, for a low price ($50 or best offer + the price of shipping), who might know how to fix the unit. I originally paid about $200 total for the unit, the RAM and the DSP1 con...

Re: SNES C SDK Math Routines
That's true about the math functions. You're always faced with the dilemma of accuracy versus precision. I found the SDK binaries in the SNESDev section on this forum. I've updated my blog post to include where I found the binaries for the SDK: http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6253 ...

Re: Disabled NES lockout chip and only certain games play SO
Famicom games written properly will work fine on the NES. However there are chinese pirate games that will not work on the NES. But licensed games should. You said "SOLVED", but what was the solution? Were the games infact just dirty? Suggestion for DIY cleaning, open your cartridges (you...

Re: Disabled NES lockout chip and only certain games play
One thing to remember is if a game doesn't start when you power it on, try pressing reset rather than powering it off and back on. Sometimes that does help. Other than that, cleaning your carts is probably the most important thing to do. It can take awhile, but I actually cleaned all my cartridges ...

Re: Disabled NES lockout chip and only certain games play
I disabled my NES lockout chip tonight to try and fix the flashing red light problem I was having. However, now I get a gray screen on most every game that I have. Just to make sure: did all these other games cease working after you disabled the CIC? Or did they just go from "not working, CIC ...

Re: Disabled NES lockout chip and only certain games play
Thanks for the tips about the new connector. I will look at adjusting my existing connector and seeing if I can get it to work better. I am slightly curious though about how a new connector would work if it is properly cleaned and not a reproduction connector. As far as the mod, I didn't connect pin...

Re: Disabled NES lockout chip and only certain games play
After a little more in depth cleaning with my rubbing alcohol and Q-Tips, I was able to get a few more games working. I'm glad I didn't damage the internals while cutting pin 4 of my lockout chip. I'll have to wait for my cleaning kit to come in to give my carts a proper cleaning. I'll also look int...

Disabled NES lockout chip and only certain games play SOLVED
I disabled my NES lockout chip tonight to try and fix the flashing red light problem I was having. However, now I get a gray screen on most every game that I have. The only games that will play are Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt and Tengen Pac-Man. My Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3, Donkey Kong ...

SNES C SDK Math Routines
I wanted to share some code that I worked on in January about implementing some advanced math routines for the SNES C SDK using pure C. I imagine that these algorithms could be coded in pure assembly for faster execution, but I wanted to see how the SNES C compiler fared for development on a Windows...

Re: Purchasing Tri-Star Super 8
I finally got the Paypal transaction to go through with the Super 8 I found on eBay. I'm looking forward to its arrival. I've been on a nostalgia trip lately and have been craving some good non-emulated 8-bit and 16-bit action on my TV. I'm not concerned on 100% compatibility, but if it can play the...

Re: Purchasing Tri-Star Super 8
From the video reviews I've seen on Youtube, it looks as though Castlevania III with the MMC5 mapper works with the Super 8. Also, I believe that the A/V feeds from the SNES into the Super 8 and you can use you A/V cable from your SNES to connect the Super 8 to a TV.

Re: Purchasing Tri-Star Super 8
From what I've seen, it's compatible with most games including Akumajō Densetsu which is fairly uncommon for a famiclone. I have a North American NES, but no Famicom. I mainly wanted to play Castlevania 3 with the enhanced sound from Konami's VCR6. If there is a mod for the NES to allow playing the ...

Purchasing Tri-Star Super 8
I'm attempting to purchase a Super 8 from eBay but the seller's Paypal account seems to not accept payments. The seller has 50670 reviews with a 99.5% feedback rating so this is odd. Has anyone bought a Super 8 from cheapgamestuff on eBay before? I'm wondering if this is a problem with the seller's ...
