If you want a parts unit, I'd sell one for $25 (plus postage), if that is helpful. That's about what I'd sell the PPU for by itself... -Xious its not grainy, its cutting in and out. I can't combine them unfortunately. The 1rst one is my original NES from 1988, the second is my friends from the same....

Unit #1 seems to have a bad PPU. You could swap the PPU from one to the other, or swap the RF modulator from the unit #1 to unit #2 in order to get one good, solid system out of them both. (These are both soldering jobs of equal levels of difficulty—pretty easy if you are handy with a soldering penc...

Re: Connect SNES mouse to NES

[quote="Sandfish"]Hello all together, yesterday I had the idea that a mouse for NES would be useful for a hand full of games (e.g. Manic Manson). So I searched for it but couldn't find a mouse. Has anyone ever developed a mouse for NES? There are NES trackballs, but no mice. You might be a...

Re: Bought a Startropics cartridge with weird CHR problem

I just bought a Startropics cartridge off of eBay. It has a weird problem. Tiles 28,29,2A,2B,2C,2D,2E and A8,A9,AA,AB,AC,AD,AE on both pattern tables have corrupt left nibbles. The low 8 bytes of the tile are sometimes okay on font tiles, but on other tiles it's not. It seems to me like an address ...

Re: PowerPak 1.32b mappers

Is this for the NES PowerPak or SNES version only? -Xious Small preview of some upcoming changes. Should be out of beta after a bit more testing and when the SNES changes are ready. Adds an autosave option for battery RAM at the saving question screen. This will save to the same file that was loaded...

I'm not very hip on Python—meaning I don’t know how it functions on cross-platform architectures—and I’d like to use this on my systems (Mac-PPC). Is it like REBOL in that either it works within its own environment, or as a compiled REBOL app for systems with REBOL interpreters installed, or is it o...

One problem is that with the cable by itself, you would need to do flow-control in software or come with some other kind of acknowledgment scheme so the NES doesn't miss anything. NES would have to keep polling until something comes through, or time itself out. It also depends on the GBA COM port b...

Re: Powerpak Savegames

I know I can save games by holding the reset button for 3 secs and then save it to the ram by selecting a empty save game. To start off, as far as I know, the .sav files used by the PowerPak are the same format as those used by most emulators, and thus if you have a game image with a .sav file alre...

It sounds like you are trying to use a parallel port under Windows to transfer data over a serial data connection. I suggest not using a Parallel port at all, as part of the data loss may be due to DTR rate problems with older hardware and it's easier to utilize hardware-based speed choking on a ser...

I still have to get or build an adapter to run my PowerPak on my Famicom Twin. How is it working out for you? I'm using a 32mb card not it works now without problems. Right — that's probably because your smaller card was not FAT32 formatted, but rather FAT16/24, which the firmware in the PowerPak do...

Re: 2A03 Revision H

Does anyone know anything about this revision? Has anyone swapped a revision H into a toaster NES? I'm pretty sure that it's a tooling revision and while it's instruction compatible, it may have a different pinout. Best to check the schematics on the NES to the pinouts on the Rev H 2A03 before tryi...

Pasofami? That's a new one on me and I'll have to do some research down that avenue. Frankly, I'm a hardware engineer (semi-retired) and writing software of this nature is not in my realm of experience. When I was in college, Cobol was the "in" language to learn... Did you code custom tool...

As to the comment about having few Japanese customers, well, that's quite logical. Few people in Japan have an NES: they own Famicom consoles, and of those who own a Famicom, maybe 0.05% of them have an NES adapter. Thats why I said ALL products. More SNES/SFC USB RetroPorts have gone to the Middle...

By riser card I assume you mean this: http://www.jandar.net/famiconv/ If so, I found this: http://www.videogameall.com/nes-accessory-72-pin-adapter.html It has a plastic case.
