The Super NES in Europe uses the same PSU as the SFC, which is the same as the Famicom... +9VDC, whereas the USA NES power supply is +9VAC. The USA SNES also uses +9VDC, but has a different termination in order to prevent users from plugging in the NES +9VAC adapter in error and damaging the system...

As demonstrated, having the NES accept AC means it won't get blown out by the wrong adapter. Maybe at the time other systems often had similar adaptors of differing polarity and they didn't want kids blowing out their NES. Or perhaps they wanted kids blowing out the other systems when they connecte...

I'm guessing that the blue-topped PSU outouts +9VDC then, rather than +9VAC. Can somebody who has one confirm the input and output ratings? The Super NES in Europe uses the same PSU as the SFC, which is the same as the Famicom... +9VDC, whereas the USA NES power supply is +9VAC. The USA SNES also us...

My first product he EXP slot will simply be the 'NESpander' (TM), which will add the Famicom DA-15 port to the NES and will have connectors for developers to use (via ribbon cable connections). This is about all the expansion port is good for without modifying carts or consoles XD Ideally, I'd like...

Nintendo Part Numbers Master List
Here is a master list of all Nintendo part numbers that I have gathered thus far. I plan to expand it with the part numbers of internal components as and complete (boxed) systems and products too. This is a work in progress, so feel free to contribute anything that you can confirm... http://atariusa...

Re: Pirate Multicarts??
How do pirate multicarts make 'n' games on a single cart work? To give a few examples: (1)"6 in 1" where smb1, smb2, smb3 and smb lost levels are all present on the same cart. (2) 64 in 1 (3) 31 in 1 etc. Is it possible to have a multicart with games that use different MMCs? I'm not 100% ...

Vs. Duck Hunt uses a palette very close to the NES one. I guess requiring Zapper light guns was enough copy protection. http://www.crazykong.com/pins/NintendoVsChips.pin.txt according to this tennis uses the same ppu as duck hunt. Unless tennis uses a custom controller I don't think your theory app...

Doesn't the VS PPU have a completely different palette than the regular PPU? Yeah, they do. In fact, they differ from each-other, as I recall, so that game vendors couldn't burn new ROMs to upodate cabinets when a new game came out. That is, Vs. SMB has a different colour palatte to Vs. Ie Climber ...

The Famicom PPU is identical to the NTSC NES PPU. Right'o. You can put the RGB PPU in any Famicom or NES, as the PPU is pin compatible between the following: HVC-001 - the original Famicom HVC-101 - the New Famicom (A/V) NES-001 - the original ‘toaster’ NES NES-101 - the NES2 'top-loader' AN-500 - ...

I'm making some headway witht he NESpander Dev board, and I want to ask the community to verify a few things for me, so I don't mess anything up... #1: NES EXP Vs. FC EXP Ports I used a variety of references that I found on several sites, including the NESDev Wiki, some of which were conflicting or ...

The biggest problem I see with this method is the availability of the connectors that go into each FDS. Modify some SNES/N64/GC composite cables. I can't imagine that the slight signal loss will be all that important in going disk->file->disk versus disk->disk, especially considering the media. It'...

The MGD on its own can only load MGD formatted disks into its emulation memory. Anything else requires a connection to a PC. To copy a disk you read the disk to the PC, then write the image from the PC. Akumajou Densetsu is 3M = 3 disks. If you were to wire in a GD, you'd very likely have power iss...

This isn't my goal... My goal is to be able to use one devidc3 without either a FC or TV connected to it. I was told that the MGD1 can do disk-to-disk copies by itself, with no additional software required, internally just by connecting it to an FDS. All I want to do is confirm if this is true or fa...
