Re: A simple sprite demo for teaching
tepples, I hope this feedback isn't going to be taken the wrong way: I know what you're asking in terms of the help you want, but the package as it stands literally requires such incredibly high technical knowledge of both Linux and Microsoft Windows, as well as build systems and an awareness of wha...

Re: New here! And I come bearing gifts!
Alright Koitsu I respect your opinion. And won't be one to wreck what you have going on here. You're right about the scent of money, and the "fact finding" that goes on pretrial, and that it would most likely be a Civil vs Criminal case. And that Civil cases are almost rigged to come to so...

Re: New here! And I come bearing gifts!
ugh. Nintendo police and their black helicopters in whisper mode. No I think they're focused on their current-gen consoles and anything marketable. Best to leave that stuff alone. They've also opened up a lot about their past development process in the Iwata asks articles... and recently gotten slam...

Ragnarokandroll, Hope you didn't get scared off. Part 3 - SNES CPU data isn't out in the wild. (talking about explanation of CPU Terminal functions, explanation of fuctions). Granted there are better opcode books directly available from the company in Irvine, CA that made the chip. However, the SNES...

Re: What kind of 3D calculations were used in SuperFX games?
I wish to ask a more generic question: What was the development process like? 1) Was there any sort of SuperFX processor simulator that ran on the development PC that could be used for testing snippets of code, or did the code constantly have to get burnt to UV erasable eproms or something else like...

Try the games in a different SNES with different power supply before you declare them bad.

Re: Is it possible to initiate a reset through the controlle
The microcontroller in the Super Famicom Box hotel system is looking at controller input, and resets after 5 seconds of holding L+R+Start+Select.

What other compilations are there besides GoodNES for the NES?
Nach (and contributors) made the NSRT set for the SNES...
and DRW, you're asking for sense where there is none.

Re: My Retron 5 arrived today!
I wonder if the art style of DKC is why Yoshi's Island was delayed. I remember an article in Nintendo Power stating it was delayed for a graphical overhaul, to provide the hand-drawn look with which we're familiar. Perhaps that was Nintendo's fallback in case the market didn't take to Advanced Comp...

Re: My Retron 5 arrived today!
And there is a very noticeable lag from controls to action on the screen. :( Pic is on my 42" NEC monitor. I understand you said monitor. but are you 100% sure it's in "just scan" or "game" mode for the input# you're using? HDMI lag is a real thing, and it is annoying have ...

I'd recommend this Pico Fast 1.5A fuse (it's not square like the original one but whatever):

Re: Legible SNES Schematics
My thought is that vias can be used for the in-circuit testing, provided the solder resist is kept away from it. The bed of nails test jig is going to have a coarser clearance spacing around the pogo pins than how close the holes need to be drilled in the actual board. Sometimes a via from the top s...

Re: Any interest in 27c322 cart mod pcb's?
Yes, but the time for battery switch is essential... As a friend explained to me, maybe the sram data is placed too near to the beginning of memory and a slow battery switch could destroy some bits. He made a custom pcb for that game and when using 70ns sram all data are lost, soon or later. All is...

Re: 4th to 5th generation biggest leap?
4th to 5th (2D to 3D) was the biggest leap. It was just a different world going from tile-map style side-scrolling graphics to more or less a free-roaming kind of game style. But I do remember it was more smooth of a transition given what the arcade machines were doing in the late 80's to early 90's...
