since this is a problem for you with multiple devices,
why can't you just find a used box PC?
I bet they're really cheap. Even coming with an XP License and such.

Re: A SNES palette questions/inquiry (possibly silly questio
Hopefully this isn't too confusing. I remember ZSNES not actually using 15-bit color. I think the new renderer uses 16-bit color (R5 G6 B5) at some stage, before it gets converted to whatever is needed by the display surface. The back and forth hue shift between adjacent gradient colors in F-Zero ge...

Re: SFC Image problems with cart extender
A good first guess would be those long antenna-like traces extending upward from the 8-pin side connectors.
Wherever you're located, you're just unlucky that those traces are picking up a strong signal and causing what the FCC euphemistically calls "unintended operation".

, or it's fed off the 21MHz from the cartridge edge. snescentral only has one side of the PCBs, though, so I can't look for myself. The second part of what you said. If you half an incoming frequency using a divide by 2 circuit (basically a DFF toggling), you get a really nice 50-50 square wave no ...

It's actually a legitimate question worth asking.
Somebody out there might have a different copy of that book.
It's just dumb luck if that somebody sees your message and bothers to respond.

Re: Legible SNES Schematics
I keep forgetting to mention, There is a dot to the left of pin 1 (+B) of the RF modulator that shouldn't be there. No big deal, dead short. C70 by the newly redrawn DC power jack should actually be C30. On my notes, I had a big ? next to it too. It was only through process of elimination that it's ...

Re: Has anyone solved the cause of the vertical bar on SNES'
I still have that hunch that the actual visible appearance itself is caused by a voltage supply problem to the Q3, Q5, and Q7 transistors because of the long route Vcc has to take to get to them, ending up going from topside to bottom through a single VIA after passing by the WRAM chip and such. Thi...

the electrical connections between the lcd pixel line drivers and the pixels themselves. The LCD glass itself could be cracked (not fixable). The other thing would be the connection wires that go through the hinge from the bottom of the unit to the top (probably fixable, if it's a ribbon cable or se...

Re: Legible SNES Schematics
At first, N had planned to ship the DSP-1 in every console instead of in every Pilotwings/Mario Kart Game Pak. Interesting, do you remember where you read it? I can remember Dylan Cuthbert saying something to the effect of that in one of his interviews. They (Argonaut) came up with the Super FX con...

Re: Has anyone solved the cause of the vertical bar on SNES'
Pasky, this is a half-baked idea, but inspecting the PCB given the new cleaner schematics, I propose the following: 1) What if the Vcc side (through 10K resistors) to Q3, Q5, and Q7 is being affected by the power droop during DRAM refresh? That because of the power droop it's an evenly darker area o...

Re: Has anyone solved the cause of the vertical bar on SNES'
This is kind of an aside, but is Dram refresh [Pin 40 CPU] a burst of pulses when measured with a smaller time division? If so, 1) how many pulses, and is it consistent? 2) What is the frequency of this set of pulses, or at least what is the time between two consecutive pulses? I'm still thinking an...

I can't say for certain about how dropbox works, but theoretically if anyone links to that exact URL, then it would always be the latest version? Right now it's 1.0... It's not important in this case to keep record of earlier versions.

Anyone else besides lidnariq and nocash feeling like volunteering to help me check this for errors before the first public release? If not, that's cool, just checking one last time.

How universal does it get? When you get that abstract, sounds like someone (the father of consoles) could make money off Microsoft and any console company that exists. I'm sensing you're probably pretty young, and maybe? not based in the United States? Absolutely there were/still are lawsuits and n...
