Re: Many companies have crappy websites
The purpose for having a web site is to Market the products. Perhaps the right solution is for someone in Marketing and someone in Engineering to cooperate on building the site. The Marketing person contributes the creative, and the Engineering person contributes the infrastructure. no, not just ma...

Re: Many companies have crappy websites
I want to deposit another insider opinion. If this comes back to me I will delete this message. Okay, here it goes: Most skilled employees these days feel overextended. And they are. Measures have been taken about the average productivity of a skilled employee in proportion to inflation adjusted sal...

Re: LCDs and vsync (thus vblank and hblank)
Well, at the very least, you could think of the VSYNC signal as a return to row 0 signal, no matter what display device is doing the drawing. Without this signal, how would the device know what line is the first one on top? It's just basically a RESET signal. And you can think of the HSYNC signal as...

Re: 2013 Midwest Gaming Classic (who will attend?)
I will be attending this year as well. My first name is Joe. :) That's too bad that there seems there won't be a nes homebrew presence like there was for the prior 2 years in the basement. However there appears to be a NintendoAge annex room opposite the gaming museum... down the same hallway where ...

Re: MAD-1, MAD-2, MAD-R differences?
Byuu, What's going on with PIN 7? In your photos it is not shown as connected. Have you tried duplicating the circuit on the circuit board? (1K resistor into this pin from what ordinarily should be the + of the battery, but +5V should be okay). Any number of reasons as to why I think this would also...

Re: DD-WRT
with a dead router, another thing to do is to check the power supply adapter voltage with a meter.
sometimes it's as simple as that, because these have a finite ability to absorb spikes, because of obvious cost-cutting and small size.

yeah. I agree in that instance. But it was more about really trying to use all 15 colors and use black outlines so objects would stand out from the backgrounds. Mario Bros 2 really stands out as having a facelift. Dare I swear to say they had a lot of fun redoing graphics for that (kinda annoying) g...

related to the spirit of the topic, this is an interview that includes one of the primary graphics designers of the SNES remake. http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/news/iwata/iwata_asks_-_super_mario_all-stars_23480_23665.html of note (obvious at the time): Sugiyama: Right. In the collection, Super...

Do you think perhaps originally that someone in post-processing was red-green colorblind when they came up with this somewhat on accident? And he was just doing what it took to make it look the best according to how his vision saw things? Because that's that's what I see the orange-teal contrast doi...

Psycopathic teen, it's really the other way around as tepples alluded to. The planes are defined by human vision. As for why you'd want YIQ, the point was to be backwards compatible with black and white television sets. The black and white TV would only pick up on the Y (intensity). Color TV's would...

Super Famicom Box KROM1 Great, that'll be interesting! At first glance, it seems to be actually Z80 code (or if my guess was correct, HD64180 code; ie. extended Z80). Do you still have the box disassembled? The part number of the 80pin (or so) chip would be interesting (somewhere in rear right), an...

Please do not assume that all Game Genie and Pro Action Replay codes are interchangeable. They are two different devices. Just because you found a tool that can convert codes, does not mean that they will work on the real system. It's very likely that a Game Genie code can be converted into PAR, but...
