I don't think speed would be a problem.

What will be a problem is the capacitance and inductance.
You could try to calculate it, and see if it will work.

I say just try it, and see if it works. Use ribbon cable (like for IDE drives).

What are you using to program the 18F4525?

I'm looking for a low cost PIC programmer (or DIY) to program the 18F series. I'd like to be able to program the 18F2525 and 18F4525.

Recommendations?

Thanks

by bending up pin four on the lockout chip, you disable the whole thing? If that is the case, couldn't you just take the whole chip off? I'm not going to do that, but by bending up pin four, does it do any harm to your system at all? Or was it just for security? See this thread: http://nesdev.com/b...

Yeah, I don't really listen to pop music. I get most of my music from http://www.2a03.org/

Great stuff.

Um, just FYI, cutting pin 4 on the lockout chip works, sometimes....

I had a lockout chip die on my NES (have no idea why), after cutting pin 4. It died after about 4 months after cutting the pin off.

There are very few MMC5 games that I'd consider worth playing.
Among them are Just Breed (eng. translation), Uncharted Waters, and Castlevania 3 (which I prefer to have the superior VRC6 version).

MMC5 would be nice to have, but MMC1 and MMC3 have a far greater amount of games.

UNROM shouldn't be a problem, because it uses off the shelf parts, as does AOROM, ANROM and CNROM.

BTW, have you tried getting CNROM or A*ROM going?

I can't wait to see MMC1 working!

Great work!

Just get a Willem based programmer, they work well, they're cheap, and they're upgradable.

If you can get MMC1, MMC3, UNROM and CNROM going, that's about 75% of all NES games.

Do you have any plans to add a full screen mode and/or vsync?
Maybe a scan line option? (25/50/100%)

Most Famicom games I've seen (or have), all snap open and closed. You basically have to pry them apart, without breaking the little clips off inside. Sometimes they put the label over the seams, so you have to peel it back.
