NES PPU replacement
Does anyone know if the Playchoice 10 uses the same pallete as the NES? I beleive that it does, but I have heard some people say it doesn't. Do any of the VS Unisystem carts have a PPU with the same pallete as the NES? I am looking to do a mod for my NES to get RGB output, and possibly to mod a Play...

Hey if you are looking for a working FDS drive, PsychoticMechanic on the Benheck.com forums repairs and refurbishes them, he is an expert. He also sells them on ebay under that same screen name. PM him at that forum and he can work something out for you. He has experince and knows of a suppler which...

OK, I think I am beginning to understand. So the FFE copiers are not really useful as a flash cart, they just rip the RAM that get loaded into the NES when you play a game and kinda try to pick out a mapper that will work. OK, not what I was looking for I guess. I have yet to see exactly what I want...

FFE questions
I have heard that there are several different pirate versions of super mario bros 2 that run on a cartridge instead of on the FDS. Does anyone know specificly which one runs on mapper 4 (MMC3)? I have found one version that runs on mapper 4 but the title screen and some of the other graphics are cor...

I read in a document somewhere that it was possible to freeze games through the NMI on the expansion port. Maybe I read it wrond or the document itself was wrong, but it sounded like it would not be too hard. Oh well, I guess that one can be put to rest for now. I suppose the first thing is designin...

OK, I have used this cart before, and this is the deal. If you use 27C256 chips you have to fill the entire chip with data. Yup, the entire thing. Use a hex editor and multiply the file size until you get 256 KB. I had to do this too, I know it kinda sucks and it takes a lot of time until you get us...

Sounds good. So lets review here, people want this dongle to need/contain these things: audio re-routing from the cart a famicom-style DB15 expansion port a cartidge lockout chip that get rerouted through a homebrew cart to save on the number of real NES carts that need to get smashed to make said c...

Yes, sounds like a relatively simple filter. I would like to see how this had been done. BTW, I was not aware that Just Breed had exteneded audio, I thought it was just a normal MMC5. I know Castlevania 3 is an MMC5 in america, but it is a special Konami mapper in Japan, and thats where the extended...

Well, I have made (and am working on another) portable nintendo handheld type thing, and I did notice that sometimes ribbon cables have spotty connection just because they are crimp on connections. I do know you can make it almost as long as you want, but you would need to go about 100 feet or more ...

OK, OK, just to clarify things here. The main idea of this dongle is to make it so that a games like Akumajo Densetsu can have its extened audio when you play it on the NES. The idea of puting the CIC data through the expansion port is so that you only need to pillage ONE nes cart and you can use th...

Yes, I did discover that it will just barely not fit. I did find something else that might work when I can figure out the pitch. Here is an idea of what I found: it is not a normal card edge connector, it looks almost like a card edge connector but with much less plastic around the pins. more fragil...

well, the deal is it has the right pich and number of pins can be customize, but you would need to clip off the corners to make it fit in the slot. Probably with a dremel. I know, bummer, but what can you do? I think it would be very hard to find exactly perfectly what you would need for that expans...
