Re: Expanding a game beyond its physical board limitations
I'm wondering if it's possible to use a memory bank controller chip like what's found in gameboy carts to use larger roms.

So a cap followed by a voltage divider? Okay I can try that.

Audio volume decreasing
Lately I've been playing with the audio circuit of my pc engine cd interface unit (briefcase model). With the help of tiido I discovered that the system generates pcm sounds internally in the ifu (interface unit). Without modifications the pcm sounds too loud and drowns out the cd audio. I found the...

Re: CPS arcade board audio muffle removal
Some instruments surely sound clearer, but it's clear why they did it when the audio samples play back. I recommend seeing how it is if you leave the low pass filter on just the µPD7759 6295. Yeah the lpfs are just for the 6295. Without major low pass filtering the 6295 samples generate an annoying...

CPS arcade board audio muffle removal
The capcom play system arcade board has very muffled audio. I got tired of everything sounding that way. I followed the audio traces and disconnected all the low pass filters. Here's the mod: http://imgboot.com/images/Drakon/cps1lpfs2.jpg Here's the before and after result: https://www.youtube.com/w...

I wish I had the skill to do this sort of thing. I'd totally make a sega cd and pc engine cd version...thefox wrote:Hopefully it gets released eventually, CD is such a unreliable medium. I never knew (until I saw this project some months ago) that it would be possible to do this over the parallel port.

Re: Has anyone solved the cause of the vertical bar on SNES'
Also, please, please don't go much more over 5.3V... it's so tempting with these adjustable supplies, but the chips weren't designed for that. Depends on the chip, I fed a superfx gsu 2 chip 7v ones and it still ran, although it got very very hot. Pasky, see if you can cut the ppu power traces inst...

Re: Has anyone solved the cause of the vertical bar on SNES'
Separate it from the rest of the power rail. Give it it's own devoted power supply. I purposely stayed quiet because I wanted to see him attach a wire straight from the regulator to the ppus and be amazed at nothing changing. The ppus, and everything else on the board, already get 5v directly from ...

Re: Has anyone solved the cause of the vertical bar on SNES'
Like tiido says you'll need to isolate what you're powering separately. It would be easier using caps. Or do what I did and just wire up a cxa2075, for some reason this encoder removes the translucent bar, and it's a better encoder than what any model snes ever came with anyway.

Re: Make my own The legend of zelda parallel worlds
Is the game 8mbit like the original lttp? If so then building it will be a joke. If it's 16mbit or larger it gets more annoying.

Re: SNES rgb comparisons
I havn't played much with rgb. I built a cxa2075 stripped down application circuit, stuck it into my snes mini, and away I went.
