Re: Everdrive - garbled graphics in final fantasy - advice?
What pins on NES carts would I use to give it a direct 5V supply? Eh, don't split the power supply, it's a very easy way to accidentally fry something. Do, however, check for voltage sag in the NES. A multimeter ought to be good enough (but an oscilloscope would be better). If you do see voltage sa...

Re: How to move FF3j translated rom onto a cartridge (PowerP
I see EverdDrive-N8 is another potential solution. Which is a better solution? I plan on only loading FF2j and FF3j. Thanks, Will I have an everdrive. FF2j and FF3j work fine; the MMC1 FF1 (USA) doesn't work well, though. Graphical sprite bugs on the battle screens. The japanese NROM version of FF1...

Re: Everdrive - garbled graphics in final fantasy - advice?
I have a bootleg Famicom Adventure Island III cart that has problems with flickery/missing sprites when connected to a pin converter and played on a front-loading NES, but not on an AV Famicom. Someone suggested that adding the converter increased resistance on the (apparently already borderline) b...

Re: Getting balanced audio on the AV Famicom without distort
Only thing I can think of is a little switch attached to the resistor for use with non-expanded audio games.

Everdrive - garbled graphics in final fantasy - advice?
When I play final fantasy on my Everdrive N8 (NES toaster version) I get this in final fantasy: http://i.imgur.com/tRJdr3g.png This only happens at points where none of the characters have walked out for an attack or whatever. whenever all four are in a straight column and not doing the victory anim...

Re: av mod famicom problems...only black and white
That looks like a monochrome monitor or it's only getting the green signal. Since this is not component video, I think that that monitor is set to monochrome mode, or does not even display color.

Re: My MMC3 conversion pack
I don't know if you take requests, but would you consider doing a guide on how to do this? or a MMC3 Final Fantasy? My everdrive has trouble with the first game for some reason, but not with grond's final fantasy (an MMC3 version, but so edited and far from the original I won't touch it).

Re: Getting a famicom imported to the US?
The only other option is to use one of the many Japanese auction sites and rely on a... hrm, what are they called... well there's a term for them but I can't remember. Basically there's an "agent" or "company" that will buy things from Japanese auction sites on your behalf (for ...

This doesn't answer the question exactly, but.. I noticed Digikey and Mouser have a few in stock. http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/450-32360/450-32360-ND/2666955?WT.mc_id=PLA_2666955 http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Parallax/450-32360/?qs=%252b86TLfaev2%2FRDpyLPquvmg%3D%3D&gc...

Getting a famicom imported to the US?
I've got a top loader and two toasters, but I have for a long time wanted an original/AV famicom, or a Titler. I know a lot of people here got theirs imported, but I would like to know what the best way to do that would be. (I don't directly know anyone from Japan personally, so that's out of the qu...

Re: Can I do a 'byteswap' to avoid remapping pins?
Correct. Okay then; thanks! I'm going to use this. FARID wrote a nice graphical program to do just this: http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=8633 While it may be 'nice', unless it's written in GTK, I won't bother. I run linux with a MATE desktop. Win32 programs are useless to me, and ...

Re: non-working Action 52
Personally, I would try to replace the caps, and if it still doesn't work, put the originals back on (maintaining the correct polarity, of course). It's better than letting that cart go to waste (even if the games on it are garbage).

Re: NES controller pin size?
Cool. Thanks. I took a pin out and it's a 1.20mm round pin,,10mm long. We're you able to solder a paper clip? I cut it to a better length, fluxed it (may not be necessary, IDK) and, yeah, was able to solder it rather easily. I recommend a clip without the 'scoring' (cuts) on it, if you can find one...
