When you scroll to the right the background doesn't render right away, not until you actually get there. The status bar up top doesn't look like it does in an emulator. It's mostly just garbled text, and the background in purple.

I tried it on the powerpak. The CNROM version has all sorts of graphical glitches. MMC1 Works, But there is a little glitch around the 1 next to Marth's Quest. If you hit reset however there is all sorts of glitching.

At this point I would work on getting a working prototype made with a hand made connector before I thought about investing so much in the final product.

You can get it for $75 when it's labeled as a Dingoo. I'm wondering how well it does games with mappers like mmc5 or VRC6 or 7, as well as Super FX games etc.
It's a great price if it works well, but too steep if it doesn't.

Has anyone tried one of these?

It's called a Dingoo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dingoo It's also sold as a Pocket Retro Game Emulator http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/retro-gaming/bd6f/ It's a portable game emulator. The thing has a 400mhz mips processor with 32 MB of RAM. It should be capable of some decent naitive games. A...

I wouldn't mind a copy of that myself. I'd buy it, only it's not just $25, it's $25 plus YOU supply the donor cart. I agree, I was wondering how the author of Super Mario Adventure thought of someone hacking it to run on real hardware and then selling it without giving him a cut. Also, doesn't that ...

I've only tried on an LCD, but you can still buy CRT's. At least you can here. They are still on the shelf at walmart, also you can even get a CRT HDTV. Probably not in the store but they have been made. http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-30HF66-Upconverting-Widescreen-Pure/dp/B000F0DC32/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UT...

I wasn't aware that most of the extra pins are unconnected. My comment was due to the fact that if I connect star fox to a game genie, which does not pass through the extra connectors, it does not render any SuperFX generated graphics. Maybe it's not so much the extra pins as it is the extra groundi...

Your prayers might be answered: http://sneshack.blogspot.com/ It's a cart in the same vain as the Powerpak. It uses a SD card to store the rom images, ram and a FPGA to make it all work. I dare say that somebody with enough know-how could make a SFX module for it, heck, the original SFX chip was pr...
