Re: Does Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius have a DAC?
My interpretation is that the samples were streamed to the SPC700 and then outputted that way (AKA, they're BRR samples). SPC dumps would get the vocal samples wrong in this fashion. I know this because I played Soreyuke Ebisumaru Karakuri Meiro Kieta Goemon no Nazo (also by Konami) and I realized ...

Does Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius have a DAC?
This Japanese game was from Konami and used "Konami’s Response Sound System" The game features a lot of vocals handled outside of the SPC, the cart connector's L/R analog audio channels.. The cart featured an SA-1 chip and I believe the SA-1 handled the digital voice and fed it to an exter...

Re: SNES audio hardware info
MSU1 only looks like cheating until you realize there is a hardware implementation of the design in Verilog. Meaning that it's as real as the Super FX is. What do I think? You didn't ask lol. but here goes : I think you should stop focusing on all this HDMA / DMA / streaming balogna and focus on tra...

Re: Throwback... Sunday?
You are YOSHi Koitsu?! That's sweet, I always wondered of YOSHi was some mythical dev creature from the past that I would never get to meet.. who just fell off the face of the planet... In fact, that's one of the first things I used to wonder when I started SNES dev 9 years ago.. Where's YOSHi now??...

Throwback... Sunday?
So who else remembers learning SNES from Yoshi's tutorials, specifically that register document, and at the end was a register $FEED, and it said something about feeding bananas with that register... That shit had me so confused cause I barely grasped the concept of a register to begin with at that ...

Re: Introducing SNES Tracker
Regarding the volume-smoothing that was recently implemented: Did you confirm that the "crackling" does actually occur on the console? I'm curious. I'm answering this question in the original thread EDIT: It just occurs to me that you're also the one who wrote the tutorial that got me sta...

Re: Snes APU Emulator "Crackle"
Regarding the volume-smoothing that was recently implemented: Did you confirm that the "crackling" does actually occur on the console? I'm curious. Yes, Blargg recorded a song on real hardware: Super Metroid: Arrival on Crateria: http://wikisend.com/download/766884/sm-17.wav the crackling...

Re: Main principles of creating an "object"
Btw, what game would be the most performant in the SNES library when it comes to amount of objects thrown around? Good old Space Megaforce? Either that or Rendering Ranger R2 (I'm leaning toward the ladder, even if it looks like there is more because of how fast bullets move). I personally think R-...

Introducing SNES Tracker
I mean you all already know about SNES Tracker, I talk about it on here sometimes, dreamed about it here last year, and yeah.. But this is a post that I'm trying to propagate around the SNES music community so that people realize "0H this is a thing.. O he needs help" http://snestracker.cl...

Re: Snes APU Emulator "Crackle"
I know I ought to document this stuff more officially, as I've been schooled, but not yet.. Thus: The issue was with songs that change the volume registers quickly -- this is what causes the discontinuity in the waveform and therefore the click.. Blargg compensated by developing an optional feature ...

Re: Any Recommendations for SNES Tracker forums?
There's a test I have for that particular emulator. Take one SPC set and attempt to play them: http://snesmusic.jukor.net/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=957 This will tell you if you've got a good solo SPC700 emulator. If playback fails, then my guess deals with wraparound problems from FF to 00 (or some...

Re: Any Recommendations for SNES Tracker forums?
I'm willing to help, but I need a couple recommendations first. If I were to write my own tracker and playback engine for NES and Super NES using SDL, which 2A03 and SPC700 emulator should I use? I don't want to just play .NSF and .SPC files because I need to communicate with the emulated machine i...
