Re: Electronics Question on Flash(ing) Memory
Ok, well I want to cover 2 things : 1) I was originally designing a plan for designing an Eprom Emulator for a SNES cart. It would use SRAM. Now I have the following question on that: If I had an SRAM chip the same specifications as a flash chip. Would it still program faster? The reason I ask is be...

Electronics Question on Flash(ing) Memory
Hello, I am planning on designing on a flash programmer. My only experience with this level of digital electronics was when I built the official GB Flasher, which actually uses an FTDI chip to do serial communications UART over USB to the micro controller. I heard about those native USB microcontrol...

Re: GB Flasher PCB's
Hey guys, little update I went to the discussion forums on Eagle Cad to get some help working with the schematics and board files. I didn't get approved of my modifications yet, however here is my mod for the ICSP (in-circuit-serial-programming) pin headers. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3683/920357...

Re: Good Entry-Level SMD Rework Station?
+1 for the Hakko 888. I have the non-digital one, and it's fantastic. I just set it to 650F and left it there. In addition to the tip that came with it, I also purchased the T18-I and the T18-C3 tips, and it's been great. Can't help you for a rework station, I use ChipQuik, and it's great. Only dow...

Re: Good Entry-Level SMD Rework Station?
yeah, Hakko is the way to go. It's got great reviews all around, and not just from here. However, I hear the digital controls on it are unintuitive, and that the analog is easier. If I gave up the ability to see the temperature display, I could save $20 and not worry about controlling its oddness. W...

Re: GB Flash Cart 32Mb PCB in the works
This appears to be an immense price drop in comparison to Laen's service.
I stated a month, however it may take me longer.

his current boards are 1.6mm thick (0.063 inches) with 1 ounce copper on both sides
Do you know the suitable thickness for a GB or SNES Cartridge?

Good Entry-Level SMD Rework Station?
Hey guys, I'm asking this question here because my motivation for most of this aligns with the extra-terrestrial powers of the Super Nintendo... I am planning on getting very serious with all electronics. Before, I had been frustrated trying to do SMD components with my cheap-o Radio Shack Iron. I l...

Re: Question on: Flashing memory for placement into SNES Car
Excuse me, when I said header i meant that end of the ROM that depicts the ROM name, checksum, etc.. as in: http://romhack.wikia.com/wiki/SNES_header but you are helping me clarify that it's probably just a linear smack of the bits into the flash chip. Is there any problems if i only flash 4mb or 16...

Question on: Flashing memory for placement into SNES Cart
Hello all, long long time, it's been a couple years since my project I brought here a couple years ago: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oiEzxCcY_3k/TnUl0odMGII/AAAAAAAAAIs/cvh-CIfAVKo/s400/IMG_0584.JPG It was the GB Flasher to SNES prototype I was working on. I'm a little older now, and more organized, le...
