Re: How to build a RAM-Cart / Plugin for the CopyNES
Oh, I forgot:
That old thread comes pretty close, but it lacks explanation why it is wired that way:
viewtopic.php?t=894
And it uses a mapper that is already supported by the copynes.

How to build a RAM-Cart / Plugin for the CopyNES
Hi! 8-) I'd like to have a killer dev system. 8-) But I dont have a powerpak lite, and got no intentions to buy one. [Just maybe, if this thread fails to collect all the required infos.] But back on topic. I would like to understand how a ram-cart or rather the CopyNES itself works. I can understand...

How about this: Yesterday, I bought a Parallel-Port-Switch and opened it. Pretty sure you know those switches, they were used to switch between parallel-port scanner and parallel-port printer. They got a massive Switch in front of them (actually, the only fuction they support), and this switch direc...

Hi it's me again for my NES arcade cabinet project. On my arcade cab there is 2 slot, one for the US and PAL cartridge and one for the famicom cartridge. I am looking for a way to disable a slot, i think that disabling the +5v of a slot make it inactive but i'm not sure. Someone have an idea ? So, ...

Wow! I am overwhelmed by your answers! :D Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, wave, shiru, tokumaru, dwedit, sivak, memblers, tepples :) If I understand correctly, every time (or most of the time ^^) the screen moves on the nametable, the chr-ram gets updated (e.g. position of the tile is...

Vertical Parallax effect in Battletoads
Hi guys! 8) I got another question for you - I can not explain that my own. Lets have a look at this video - it is battletoads, level 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPd9TzBFc40 What puzzles me, is how did they manage to get that nifty parallax-effect? Most of the time you see this effect, ...

Thanks a lot, guys! :) I created my first romhack in the meanwhile. 8) I opened the rom in FCEUX, and turned off backgrounds. The red metal structures never appeared, but the stars stayed. Then I turned off sprites, and the stars vanished too. So you were all right! I then opened the rom in a tile e...

Hi Shiru, thefox, tepples, Thanks a lot for your input! Tepples, the background in Star Soldier is different than in Star Force. In StarForce, the stars are on a flat plane - they all move at the same speed. And they vanish as bullets and enemy ships enter the screen. I am pretty sure they are sprit...

Hi fellow Codemonkeys! I have been lurking on this board for some month, reading lots of threads and trying to understand concepts behind nes games. Ultimately, I'd like to do a game at my own. But completing this task seems far, far away by now. Nevermind, I just wanted to say "hi...
