Dump Mask ROMs from NES?
Is it possible to, say, use a willem programmer to dump the contents of a CHR or PRG rom? I ask because I have a copy of Just Breed, and when I compared it to an emulated ROM on PuNES, I noticed that the emulated version is missing a few things. 1) No intro screen. The emulated ROM image just shows ...

Re: Question about bank switching
The maximum addressable size without bank switching is 95 Mbit Well, for special carts, sure. I was thinking more in lines with your standard 36 pin TSOP, which maxes out at 64mb/8MB because it only goes up to A22. multi-game cart would probably be the better term. Also, the games I want are specia...

Question about bank switching
I've been reading up on it, as I'd like to make a multi-cart game. From what I understand, the SNES, like the NES, can send a strobe to a binary counter to increment it on reset. You use this counter to tie the appropriate address pin of your EPROM high or low to "force" the active memory ...

Re: Best Labels
I just print with a good high-resolution image and high-DPI printer on a sticky label, layer on some clear packing tape to laminate, and stamp-cut to the dimensions needed.

Re: Donor with 2x DIP32 mask rom...questions re: TSOP40
When you want to make a reproduction, just make sure it's for you, and you either already own the game via another distribution method, or it's 100% unavailable. Being expensive isn't much of an excuse. Regardless, when making a repro, you only need to concern yourself with 3 things for the donor: 1...

Dual Language FFV?
I'm trying to turn a retail cart of FFV into a switchable dual-language cartridge by leaving the cart in normal shape and soldering a TSOP package under one of the existing mask roms. Now, I know I need a decoder to make this work, as the cart (SHVC-2J3B-01) has 2 mask rom slots, sram, and a built-i...

Re: Good Entry-Level SMD Rework Station?
I actually got one of these about 5 months ago to work with small SMD components on my PS3 and PS2. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006FA481G/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Aoyue 968A+ It comes with just about everything you need, and the heatgun is VERY stable and accurate with the ...

Re: Writing to SRAM on retail carts
I'm mighty interested in this whole F-RAM proposal.
It's kinda off topic, but it would be useful to know this in case I want to replace the battery backed S-RAM of some game with a long term stable solution.
Would be especially useful for the pokemon games with RTC.

Re: Make my own The legend of zelda parallel worlds
A minimum cost would be the Super Everdrive, which is about $80 on Retrogate. The cost of doing reproductions can be mitigated by buying your EPROMs from a provider that will program them for you. This will save you $80-$100 on the cost of a programmer if you're only doing a few carts. You will need...

Re: Writing to SRAM on retail carts
You could probably do that... or, for a more stable solution, you could replace the SRAM with F-RAM, so you don't have to worry about maintaining Vcc, but then you'd need a little extra glue logic to properly drive the /CS pin. Apparently the willem I have (GQ-4X) doesn't support writing to SRAM, o...

Re: Writing to SRAM on retail carts
I was hoping for a more stable hardware solution. Additionally, I'm not familiar enough with SNES assembly, so programming DMA transfers and a SRAM transfer program is a bit outside my skill set for now. I guess the tototek card and a PCI express Parallel card with EPP is my solution. Thanks. I was ...

Writing to SRAM on retail carts
I have a save file from an emulator I'd like to transfer to a retail cart, but I don't have a SRAM writer. What I do have is a super everdrive, a GQ-4X Programmer, and a Teensy 2.0. How do I go about doing this? Also, can I possibly use my teensy to do SRAM backups in preparation for battery replace...

SRAM/Save Transfer?
Would it be possible, using something like an Everdrive, to transfer save files/sram contents from one cart to another, or write SRAM files from like an Emulator to real cartriges? I was thinking, like write an SNES rom whose only purpose was to dump an SRAM/Save to SNES's memory, display a message,...

The corrosion is pretty bad. I can't even get to the solder on a few of the pins due to it. My desoldering pump can't liquify it enough, so I've had to use a dremel to cut, drill, and clean the contacts. The guy I bought these from found them after the flooding and earthquake/tsunami in Japan. Some ...
