it's kinda small, but I think he just wired the /WE to BYTE to either a diode or a resistor, and right into that ... voltage regulator? He may have just soldered directly to VCC. Too small to tell. I can barely read it, looks to be AMS1117, datasheets says its a 800ma low voltage dropout regulator. ...

Kirby Super Deluxe with 44 Pin TSOP pinout
So, I have a Japanese version of Kirby Super Star (AKA Deluxe/Fun Pack), and I was thinking of soldering an english version in parallel to it.
So, I open the cart, and I'm surprised to find a a 44 pin TSOP.
Does anyone have the pinout for this?

I looked at your post history, and I'm confused. Are you talking about the extended address header board, or the old TypeII TSOP adaptors that swapped A20/A21 on the TSOPs? If it's just a matter of swapping pins, I can construct my own adaptor with a breadboard and an extra ZIF socket. If it's the e...

So, is there a way to program the TSOP chips when they are already on the adapter? I was looking at the pre-soldered AM29F032B on the DIP36 adapter, and if I can just plug that into my G540 and program it, that would save me a lot of time and effort in making a couple of dual-language carts out of s...

The datasheet also says it's rated up to 7V for applied input and output voltages and VCC to ground. Also, Page 17 lists Read/Programming/Erase operations as 5V, and the test conditions for the operating limits are listed as 5V, +/- 10% so, if I were to use this to make an english translated version...

using old motherboard flash ROMs?
I found some old motherboards, and I was wondering just how useful the BIOS flash ROM would be. Here's the datasheet on it: http://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pdf/74506/MCNIX/MX29F002NTPC-12.html This old motherboard had a DIP-32 bios chip. I compared it to the 256Kbyte pinout for NES Mask RO...

this looks like it would work:

Also, I just had a cool idea.
a mercury switch that uses the Japanese rom in a top loader or Famicom console, and english in a front loader.
that would be brilliant.

It's really just as simple as wiring the roms in parallel and switching the /CE pins? That is laughably simple. I think I can get a couple of pull up resistors too. Couldn't hurt. FF3j uses a 4MBit mask rom, right? would at29c040a be a good EEPROM to use? as far as the switch itself, I was thinking ...

Mask ROM and EEPROM switch?
I have a copy of FF3j that I wanted to slap into an NTSC-U cart with a gyromite converter, but I was wondering if it would be possible to leave the original mask ROM on the board, and use a switch (like a small pinhole button or dipswitch) to switch between a translated version burned to an EEPROM a...
