Re: bsnes and headers
I suppose if you guys want to push it there, great, I'm not going to. A news update about beat has been posted, so the last step of pushing it is complete :P. There have already been ten downloads, so hopefully we will begin to see people leaving feedback about their experience with beat/BPS. I lik...

Re: Controller port to serial cable
Speaking of improvements, the -01 sockets fit better. The -02's are fine, so don't worry about the ones you already ordered, but the -01 is a much tighter fit. I initially thought it was too narrow, which was why I went with the -02 in the first place, but definitely go with -01 in the future. Other...

Re: Controller port to serial cable
> As soon as I get my initial 3 prototype boards back Oh I thought that was your prototype board. So that's your hand-made one, it looks great assembled! Yeah, my bad on the ambiguity. Yes, this was a hand-etched board. The reason I want to wait on the boards I ordered is that they will actually be...

Re: Controller port to serial cable
As soon as I get my initial 3 prototype boards back to confirm that I like the placement and board outline/size, I'll send you the gerber files and you can order them here . For 100 boards with red soldermask, you're looking at $0.85/pcb for HASL finish (solder-coated pads) or $1.45/pcb for ENIG (go...

Re: Flash Cart with nonvolatile SRAM
Another thing about switching to 3.3v, I just looked at the datasheets a bit more and once I switch to 3.3v, I will also almost certainly be switching from the XC9536 to the XC9536XL, which should cut power consumption by up to 40% over the XC9536, so that'll be nice...

Re: Flash Cart with nonvolatile SRAM
Can't you do the same thing by putting flash on a MBC5 board with less effort? You're already hacking up the one game... No, I only have TSOP Flash ROMs, which are 0.5mm pitch. You really can't hand-wire them. I could solder it to a breakout board to get solder pads at a reasonable pitch for wires,...

Re: Flash Cart with nonvolatile SRAM
Yeah, lidnariq got to it before I did, but all of the chips on the GB(C) cart run at 5v logic, not 3.3v. The GBC may run on 2xAA batteries, which is a 3v power supply, but it internally boosts that up to 5v which it runs off of. The fact that it runs off of 2xAA batteries was just nice for the size ...

Re: Flash Cart with nonvolatile SRAM
Honestly, the first revision is mostly just to get *something* working as well as to test any pc-side software I may write to talk to the cart. That way, I can guarantee that any issues aren't due to my Verilog. Also, I'd like to just have a working cart with minimal effort, since I don't currently ...

Re: Flash Cart with nonvolatile SRAM
There will most likely be several iterations of this cart project. The first step would be the one I have above, using a donor MBC5, an AM29F032-B Flash ROM, and an F-RAM nonvolatile save chip. The next step will feature an MBC5 clone in a CPLD (I will be using the same Xilinx CPLD as the project I ...

Flash Cart with nonvolatile SRAM
I've been playing around with the idea of building a GB flash cart for awhile, and figured I'd combine a few of the interesting cart mods I've found online, namely nonvolatile saves and a clone MBC5 synthesized on a CPLD all onto one cart. Eventually, I'd also like to work out a flash ROM solution u...

I think the title screen fix causes glitches in the ending credits. I haven't heard of any newer version of the fix, so you're on your own there...
