My drive has the 7201 so it sounds like this'll work. I'll give it a shot later tonight and report back.

I presume you're talking about whether or not the drive has the FD7201 or not?

Disabling copy protection ICs on Twin Famicom

Lately I've been having issues with saving disks on my Twin Famicom, sometimes I'll get an error 26 and my game won't get saved. In one case I actually lost a save game (!) in Zelda 2 because of an error 26. I've heard this is usually caused by the copy protection kicking in if the disk is even the ...

Re: YPbPr ouput mod for SNES consoles (Resurrected)

I know he was part of the reason why the previous thread got locked, but kyuusaku/Calpis suggested using the THS7314 in AC coupled mode on ASSEMbler. I'm tempted to try it out on my Super Fami (which uses the SHVC-CPU-01 board) even though I mainly use RGB. Here it is if anyone else wants to try it:...

Re: Twin Famicom controller problem

Bad controller cables perhaps? You might also want to reseat the controller connectors on the motherboard, there's a good chance they might have worked loose a little.

Re: New NES/Famicom-clone

[Using an RGB PPU] would be utterly ridiculous to do these days now that the NESRGB is out. That depends on whether patents are pending on what NESRGB does. Years of Slashdot news stories about litigious patent holders have convinced me to guess "design around" for any design decision tha...

They're located on the drive PCB.

Re: Twin Famicom power circuitry - Is using 9V really OK?

Finally managed to get another FD7201, and just got through swapping it into my drive. The head still moves by itself and now I'm at a loss as to what to do next. EDIT: It works!!! I wound up replacing the C311C voltage comparator and the 4560 op-amp, and it works perfectly again! This one frustrat...

Getting balanced audio on the AV Famicom without distortion

I seem to be having a whale of a time with the audio end of an AV Famicom that I'm modding for someone. I installed an NESRGB for him, and the audio amp included on it stopped working (!) after soldering a wire for expansion audio. I've tried experimenting with improving the pre-existing audio circu...

Re: Twin Famicom power circuitry - Is using 9V really OK?

I didn't see your previous post after your edit. Sorry! Yeah, I edited my post because it turned out that the busted drive that was previously in my Twin is being refurbished; the drive that's in my Twin was actually pulled from a fully working FDS, and the old drive is going into that FDS once it'...

Re: Twin Famicom power circuitry - Is using 9V really OK?

Well, I just did a thorough exam of the drive last night and I've determined that there is absolutely zero issue with the switches. I kinda had hope in the back of my mind that perhaps one of the switches got stuck, but they both look and work fine.

Re: Twin Famicom power circuitry - Is using 9V really OK?

EDIT: Is there still any possibility that the two copy protection chips on the power PCB are causing issues? I'm planning on making a parts run soon to one of my local electronics shops and I figured maybe I'd try replacing the 4001 and 4013 just for grins, especially since they're common parts.

Re: Twin Famicom power circuitry - Is using 9V really OK?

I think I'll just go ahead and swap out the drive controller. Hopefully someone has a junked FDS drive that I can scavenge parts from...
