Re: The Famicom's and the NES's Audio Path
But ... I have to admit I'm a little surprised it's only 0.3V. I'm also really surprised the voltage went negative: that's supposed to be a unipolar pull-up DAC inside the CPU (with an external 100Ω pulldown resistor)—nothing should be creating negative voltages here. I read something about negativ...

Re: The Famicom's and the NES's Audio Path
It's hard to give you a straight answer without directly measuring the voltages on CPU pins 1/2. Absolutely. Your reply was very helpful though, thanks! Dug out my PropScope and the NES today and took some measurements from those CPU pins. Showed a voltage range of around 0.3V (ranging from around ...

Re: The Famicom's and the NES's Audio Path
OK, some more digging, there aren't 3 x 22K resistors - actually 2 x 20K and 1 x 12K. Looking at schematics, 'Audio In' (pin 3 on the Expansion Port) feeds into R9 (20K resistor) before the 'amplifier' circuit... so definitely seems like putting 5V into a circuit that expects something much smaller,...

Re: The Famicom's and the NES's Audio Path
Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but it seemed the most appropriate place to ask my question... What signal / voltage level is expected at that 22K resistor, coming in from the NES expansion port? I would like to directly attach a 0-5V PWM signal from a microcontroller, but my feeling is th...

Re: FamiiDI: MIDI Input & Wii Nunchuk arduino shield for the
Thanks for the feedback! :D I've got a quick question to ask - I am using a PowerPak for testing, and am finding that if I connect the DB15 cable once the game is loaded everything works perfectly, but if I have it connected before turning the NES on, or while loading ROMs, then it can sometimes cau...

FamiiDI: MIDI Input & Wii Nunchuk arduino shield for the NES
FamiiDI: MIDI Input & Wii Nunchuk arduino shield for the NES / Famicom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SIU_qhdpek FamiiDI ( Fam icom, W ii Nunchuk, MI DI ) is an Arduino shield that reads in data from a MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) serial connection, or a Wii Nunchuk controller, a...

Re: uXeBoy - a NES Control Pad in a GameBoy! (Crowd-Funding)
In any case, there's probably a way to do this without destroying a working Game Boy Yes, there is - I mentioned it in the post directly above yours: ...using my PCB you could build a uXeBoy without having to touch one single piece of the now inherently limited supply of original GameBoy parts, by ...

Re: uXeBoy - a NES Control Pad in a GameBoy! (Crowd-Funding)
I just think it's weird that you want to replace the one that already comes with the GB instead of just modding that one to output the kinda signal you want. Well I suppose my answer to that would be that if I decide one day that I want to use the uXeBoy as a GameBoy again then I could just reinsta...

Re: uXeBoy - a NES Control Pad in a GameBoy! (Crowd-Funding)
Really, this project is just something that I was excited about having for myself - and I figured that it could be worth throwing it out there to see if there are 100 other people in the world who feel the same way! if it seems pointless to you then I guess you're not one of those people, and if it ...

Re: NTSC and PAL variations
I have found that PAL controllers (model NES-004E) will work universally on both the PAL and NTSC NES, but the NTSC controllers (model NES-004) only work with the NTSC NES. You can make an NTSC controller 'PAL-compatible' by adding two resistors - more details here: http://www.made-by-bacteria.com/v...

This turned up over on chipmusic.org - an eBay seller has 4,285 of these for sale at $5.95 each: http://www.ebay.com/itm/370549655915 ...found some more information, and it looks like the cart is reprogrammable: http://www.oocities.org/grinara/ I think it would be fun to have a simple dial-up termin...
