Re: Which discrete mapper has both CHR and PRG RAM?
Re highjacking: They aren't going away. CMOS EPROMS are. But Flash is the new tech and I don't see them going OOP for a while. 2KB sizes and such, yeah, never again. 32KB+ you'll be fine. Socketed ROM days are numbered. The die plans of most Chinese manufacturers are all going surface mount. Will y...

Re: Which discrete mapper has both CHR and PRG RAM?
What do you mean? The NES's hardware (CPU, PPU, etc?) or cartridges/mappers? There are already clones, flashcarts, and reproductions of all that available for purchase today. Unless I don't understand what you're referring to, there's already been a resurgence... Resurgence of the ORIGINAL technolo...

Re: Which discrete mapper has both CHR and PRG RAM?
Oops, yep, sorry about that. Fixed. Thank you for the comment. It's like everything else. Whatever you work at the better you get. I just have more interest in the hardware. :D I have seen some great advancements in emulators over the years and I know they are invaluable for testing, they ju...

Re: Which discrete mapper has both CHR and PRG RAM?
But I'm not interested in playing with the hardware. Funny, I'm the exact opposite. I would rather mess around with the hardware, but I have tremendous respect for those who work with the software. Maybe when you are getting closer to working out bugs and want to start heading down the hardware dev...

I support all hardware efforts of this sort. More working knowledge of hardware can NOT be a bad thing!

Re: New CIC Clone by Krikzz available (AVRCICZZ)
I tried it and (as expected) it work perfectly on my NES. For those using universal programmer (I use GQ-4x) with software that can't open ELF production file and need to manually set the fuse, here are the required fuses settings: Ext.Clock; Start-Up time: 14CK+ 0ms; [CKSEL=00 SUT=00] I have both ...

Re: SOROM Battery question.
Thank you, worked like a charm. Yes, I have moved the smaller sized ram chips off the board and replaced them with one 32K chip. I also have cut the traces to the 2nd chip and mounted the hex inverter there and ran jumper wires on the back. I think this is much cleaner than having jumper wires hangi...

SOROM Battery question.
If I wanted the first Ram chip to have battery backup, is it just a matter of connecting the power pin from the battery?
Sorry for the newb question. I just have a bunch of SOROM boards I'm trying to convert to SXROM boards.
Thank you for any help.
