Re: Legible SNES Schematics
I know they aren't the best shots, but I took pictures of the revision with the video encoder relocated among other things: http://i.imgur.com/d5LebeOs.jpg http://i.imgur.com/lqZE6fVs.jpg http://i.imgur.com/tue17CBs.jpg http://i.imgur.com/D7hi5T7s.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YbJzgB7s.jpg http://i.imgur.c...

Re: Legible SNES Schematics
I forgot to say, I really would appreciate some legible schematics and thank you for your efforts. I'd also like to see some for the other revisions as well.

Re: Legible SNES Schematics
Just the overall design. The placement of some of chips was moved around. On all revisions prior the encoder and chips seemed to all be in the same place. I'm not sure if there was any additions or removals of actual components, but they were definitely moved around. But there is definitely noticabl...

Re: Legible SNES Schematics
I think there might have been one more revision. At least to the PCB between the 1Chip models and the previous, or rather revision 3 and 2 as you're categorizing them. I bought this thinking it was going to be a 1Chip snes, and has the serial #SN304xxxxx: http://i.imgur.com/A5twmkW.jpg It's labeled ...

I'd prefer it to be hidden as well, I never browse to it.

I came back to this, replacing the encoder did jack shit.
I've recently purchased a DS2072, but it won't arrive for a couple weeks, will be playing with this more when it does. Has anyone else made any findings?

Re: top loader - getting rid of bad video, lets figure this
Cutting that pin and soldering the wire to the cut pin made everything better. No jailbars! Thanks for the tip Pasky! These cutters did a really clean job of getting that pin detached: http://www.amazon.com/Hakko-CHP170-Micro-Cutter-16AWG/dp/B0000WT6FI/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1375336282...

Re: top loader - getting rid of bad video, lets figure this
My AV Famicom shows no jailbars when using a composite PPU. But when I installed 2 different RGB ppu's, both had serious jailbars. The weird thing was, is that the jailbar layout is exactly the same to what a NTSC-US top loader has via RF. I think the jailbars are still present in the AV Famicom, ju...

Re: top loader - getting rid of bad video, lets figure this
I don't suggest cutting the pin, but rather desoldering the PPU and lifting the pin and putting the PPU back in place. Sounds like an awful lot of work when you can just cut the trace (as opposed to the pin itself). If you want to ever use RF again, just solder a wire (better yet, install a switch ...

Re: top loader - getting rid of bad video, lets figure this
I did that exact method first, infact that page was the page I used to do my first AV mod. leaving pin 21 grounded to the PCB still gives jailbars through the composite video. I don't suggest cutting the pin, but rather desoldering the PPU and lifting the pin and putting the PPU back in place. I gue...

Re: top loader - getting rid of bad video, lets figure this
The 'lineless' mod he is speaking of is probably just rebuilding the amp and lifting pin 21 on the ppu. I've done this on over 12 top loaders now and while it appears to remove the vertical lines on the nes, you see that they are still there if you turn up your sharpness high enough, but they aren't...

Re: External audio on Toploader NES with PowerPak mod
Ok fixed and got expansion audio with my av famicom with the top loader now. Thank's to rane's advice in #nesdev. Cut the bridge between 45-46 on the converter famicom side and wired in a 10K pot on pin 45,46 on the converter and 51 on the 72 side. Works great now.

Re: Good Entry-Level SMD Rework Station?
I don't have a problem with the digital version at all. I set the temperature once and that was it.
