Re: Download my game : Ball and flag
That's pretty cool.
Works fine, of course, in fceux. Also, I commented on your "Setup your Everdrive n8" thread on the krikkz forum. When I get my n8, I'm sure it'll work fine.

Re: Playtesting and Prototyping (especially with a game boar
Sometimes I prototype things in Python before translating them to assembly language. Nice. Btw, I've written a script in Lua where the assembly as a whole is an object. This object has a method for each 6500 instruction. I've gone a little overboard with that in trying to mimic a 6502 processor, wi...

Playtesting and Prototyping (especially with a game board)
So, we are working on a game for NES! And while I'm working on the programming and learning the ins and outs of NES (currently have a build with a plain grey screen, so yeah...) we decided to design and play test the game using a set of dice, some charts and notes, and that Super Mario Bros chess se...

Re: Game novelizations
I actually had a Donkey Kong Country novel around 1998. What I've always wanted was a Legend of Zelda novel, packed with details of Hyrule and its citizenry during the original LoZ. This, about Ocarina of Time, is something in that direction.

Re: Retrobit?
OMG, so this just happened.
A Nintendo appeared on my desk.
Because my lovely wife ordered one and did not tell me, because after all, I'm working on a game for her... Oh my, yes!

Re: Retrobit?
Ah, is that what's on Amazon? Yes, for hundreds or even more than a thousand dollars, "New NES".
And of course I agree the software should work on the hardware.

Re: Retrobit?
Practically, I view these systems more as virtual machines which also have dwindling supplies of supporting (and often worn) hardware. If you're just looking for a virtual machine, use Java. More seriously: At some point, the community will have to redefine the virtual machine precisely in order fo...

Re: Retrobit?
Hardware interests me to a point, but software usually matters a little more. Software is naturally free (until it's fenced off with a proprietary license) but hardware has supply and demand. Practically, I view these systems more as virtual machines which also have dwindling supplies of supporting ...

Re: Retrobit?
Yeah, that's about what I've gathered. They're a cheap, cheap company. Instead of buying a Retrobit, or even an NES, I ordered a Raspberry Pi. I would have an enormous smile on my face if an NES just appeared on my desk, but between spending on that or on something that could run NES, C64, and every...

Retrobit?
I'm in the market for an NES, and while I'm certain I could find one at a swap meet if not on ebay/amazon, I'm curious about the Retrobit line of aftermarket consoles. I see consistent reviews that the sound and even the color is off. It is apparently very light in weight. And the top loader on at l...

Re: FamiTracker 0.4.1.1 pre-release
It just occurred to me that Qt and SDL are both available to C4droid. I don't know that it'll be compatible with Qt4 or not, but that'll come up. So, let me see if I can get FamiTracker on Android, hmm? :) Edit: It looks like it should compile, but there are a couple of errors similar to those I cam...

Very much so! It reminds me of FF6, as well as Tsugomo's So You Want To Be A Pixel Artist.rainwarrior wrote:I find these images inspiring. Thanks for sharing them.

Re: FamiTracker 0.4.1.1 pre-release
I just need to find a cross-platformy way to do MIDI, preferably something I can just compile in like SDL. I haven't looked for such a thing but if it exists and you know of it I'll gladly put it on my list. Previously I was on the search for this too, it's been a couple years since I looked but at...

you shouldn't have infringed on their IP. The term "intellectual property" is designed to confuse , Well, that's one area where I agree with Stallman. It conflates copyright, patent, and trademark, it conflates those with exclusive rights in land, and it encourages readers to take this co...

Re: What do you listen to while coding?
I do find myself eventually turning the music off, and then I just code in silence, but lyrics definitely affect me. Perhaps it wouldn't be so distracting in another language. (I like Mana, for example.)
