Converting MHROM CHR 32k to 64k?
I have a couple of SMBs/DH MHROMS with chips and im looking to mod the CHR for 64k. Im trying to figure out where to wire the CHR A15 to the 74C161. Im trying to look at the pinout and it looks something like this: MHROM '161: 1 5v 2 prg /ce (r) 3 prg d0 4 prg d1 5 prg d4 6 5v 7 gnd 8 gnd 9 prg r/w ...

Re: Rockman 4: Minus Infinity v1.0 bug
Thats 'normal'. Mine has it, and there are a couple of other small graphical glitches but nothing game breaking. Its common that extensive hacks have a few graphic screw ups here because if it works on an emulator, its not 100% guaranteed to be perfect on the console. Some are major, some are minor....

Re: Testing a bad ROM chip?
The 28-pin DIP Mask ROM is a JEDEC standard (with part numbers something like 23c1001), so you might see if your programmer just happens to support it. Even failing that, you should still be able to read the first half by pretending it's a 27c512. I never thought about that (using a 64k shell). My ...

Testing a bad ROM chip?
I just bought Super Turrican PAL B. First things first my lockout chip was disabled. So I get the game, clean it. Nothing. Cleaned it MORE, nothing. Even cleaned the inside of my NES again. Nothing. Now before I made a repro of the game for myself so I had another TSROM board laying around. I remove...

Re: SF1ROM help?
Well I got curious and decided to go with my hunch about the PRG being different aaaaaaaaaand... :Trumpet fanfare: looks like its a standard JEDEC/eprom pinout! It has an MMC1B1-H, so I cross referenced the pinout with the nes edge pins and the mmc1 pinout and looks like a16 is prg pin 2 a17 is pin ...

Re: SF1ROM help?
Luckily I saved the chips for this SF1ROM and it looks like the PRG is listed as LD-2 and the SFROM board looking on the cart db is listed as LD-1 and the SFEXROM version is LD-0. 3 different types of chips, where as the CHR for each is always LD-0. This leads to me as I suspected that the PRG pinou...

Re: SF1ROM help?
Hrm, ok ill double check. Chips came out without a break in the traces, and only 1 wire to solder.
*EDIT*
I dunno, i think its the board somehow.
I pulled out the chips and they verified. Resoldered, even put in new chips. Same deal

SF1ROM help?
Im making a Super Mario Unlimited and my bases loaded is an SF1ROM, not SFROM. But the chip says LD-0, so its not another revision or something. Wired it up, cant get it to boot. Im using a 27c301 for the prg and just a regular 27c256 for the CHR. The 301 only needs one wire (pin 2 to gnd) but cant ...

Re: More HN27C301 burning shenannigans
Even tho I didnt get a reply I fixed it by buying a 40 pin socket and wiring it to be used by my willem.
I was more curious why when I read the data and it failed at 50%, why the other half of the chip mirrored the first half, instead of it being all blanks (FF)

More HN27C301 burning shenannigans
Happy holidays everyone. So ive been burning some 27c301s without any problems using my Willem g4qx. Only recently ive been getting some weird problems. At approx. 50%, exactly half way of the burn (address 10000) it always fails. Tried a bunch of chips. Within the same batch i have burned accuratel...

Re: How to hack a pal game to a ntsc game!
I read somewhere that it auto detects. But when I tried it myself it doesnt, plus there is the PAL version, and then the NTSC prototype thats not being dumped. So A) if it DOES autodetect theres prob not a reason for the NTSC version and B) just turn off pal emulation on your emulator and there ya g...

Re: How to hack a pal game to a ntsc game!
I wish someone did this for Super Turrican! Its just beyond my scope of programming, but I do understand what goes into it.
I read somewhere that this game can auto detect whether its being played on a PAL or NTSC system and change accordingly. Where did this rumor start?! (as its not true)

Re: Electrical componets on NES boards
Additional question:
On a TLROM, theres a CC slot. A capacitor for the M2 pin of the MMC3. Does the CC stand for Clock Capacitor, and is it function the same?
