Re: Electrical componets on NES boards
Wow, how confusing! And im sure that they're the SAME color codes on there like a resistor right? Seems silly but hey, now I learned something and makes even more sense. Thanks guys.

Re: Electrical componets on NES boards
ahhh decoupling. Reading ab it makes sense thanks. The ones that youve talked ab seem like what youd see on a mmc1 board. Early boards just use an electrolytic cap and 2 resistors. Altho still not sure of what the resistors were for too. Seems like decouling only requires caps. The resistors have to...

Electrical componets on NES boards
Hey all. So, since I started this whole thing, ive become pretty interested in electrical engineering and such. Doing a lot of reading from a complete beginner to moderate beginner. My question is about the boards. Im trying to figure out why there are resistors and capacitors on the power planes of...

Re: Confirming rom uses extra WRAM?
Oh so code wont necessarily be there when you start the game? I opened up the game played it and just read the readout. Most of the time I didnt even need to play it.

Re: Confirming rom uses extra WRAM?
Im talking about prototype games, or famicom games that were translated. I was looking at a game that I KNOW uses TLROM and inside of nestopia it said it was TSROM. I checked a few roms I had that had that hex area blank, but then opened up Robocop vs. Term and saw it was filled. So I know that one ...

Confirming rom uses extra WRAM?
Whats the easiest way to do this? When opening in Nestopia itll say if it uses extra WRAM. BUT even games that dont use it, it seems to come up. Ive opened games that use TLROM and it says it uses 8k WRAM auto. How would I know what games actually NEED the extra 8k WRAM (like Mike Tysons Intergalati...

Re: Bad chips even if verified?
I doubt it cuz i bought em with the same batch as others and they were all fine. The only thing strange about this one is that I think there was a scratch on the top of the glass cuz it took a LOOOOONG LOOONG time to erase fully. After I fully erased it I burned it and got this problem. Specifically...

Bad chips even if verified?
Got a weird Q. So im using a Clemens board to make a TLROM game (specifically the mmc3 51555-2 variant). Never had a problem with it or even making the same game with it. The problem im having is when I booted the game up there were obvious graphic problems. But it came and went. On some parts of th...

Re: PCB / pin dimensions
So far the best solution is to buy one of the converters on ebay, and mod your nes pins to bend UPWARD so you dont have to push the cartridge down for the NES to read the game. The game and the converter are just a HAIR too big to push downward in the NES. Very annoying! So thats what I did yesterda...

PCB / pin dimensions
Hey all. Ok so im going a little bonkers and feeling bad about using my Uncharted Waters for Rockman 4 Minus Infinity. I got the label and the chips, just not the board. So i'll take my Rockman 4 out, and put Uncharted back. Im trying first to see if I can get an adapter (for Honeybee family adaptor...
