Re: SGDQ Is Live
That is some pretty epic abuse of physics right there. My personal favourite moments in TASing bar none are SMW Arbitrary Code Execution by Masterjun, and Mega Man 3 & 4 & 5 & 6 by Baxter & AngerFist, all beaten simultaneously with the same controller input. The day somebody beats So...

SGDQ Is Live
Figured I'd mention, in case you're like me and usually forget it's happening until long after it's over. Link for the lazy here . Feel free to use this thread as a discussion of all things speedrunning. I enjoy both live and tool-assisted runs myself (TASing Dragon View is how I learned 65816 to st...

Re: Have people changed their minds about Satoru Iwata now?
Okay. I'm just not really sure why you're getting so worked up, especially when you start writing in all caps and using exclamation points. Could you possibly continue your argument elsewhere, because I'm sure many people here don't want to hear it. You mistake the occasional use of capital letters...

Re: Have people changed their minds about Satoru Iwata now?
You made an advnacevent without any proof, and I refute it, so you are the one in the need of a proof, not me. Did you even look up history of very early Christianity before writing that post? Christians have been persecuted for a couple of hundreds of years after the religion appeared. They certai...

Re: Have people changed their minds about Satoru Iwata now?
Wow, salt levels off the charts! I think we can do without such jeering from the peanut gallery, thank you very much. I am eagerly looking forward to the day people stop using the word "salt" in this context. I have no clue how people prefer the looks of something like Call of Duty....

Re: Have people changed their minds about Satoru Iwata now?
People were killed for not being Christian since the very year Christianity was founded Wrong. Revisit your history before arguing. Maybe bring some citations before just flat-out calling me wrong. But you can't, though, because this is another thing that's impossible to prove. All it takes is one ...

Re: Have people changed their minds about Satoru Iwata now?
I do regret getting involved, mostly because this forum seems to take grave offense at things getting "off topic". I'm not trying to derail things, I'm not angry and I'm not trying to offend anyone here. I am just looking to have this brief debate politely, if others are willing to allow i...

Re: Have people changed their minds about Satoru Iwata now?
Aaargh I can't stand this mindset. If someone was bad, then he was bad, no matter if he died or not in the meanwhile. I hate Steve Jobs. He was a greedy asshole that was only concerned with business and profit, who single-handedly set in motion the downfall of the modern computer age. That still do...

Re: Direct page issues...
As for the above post, If that's the actual issue, then what is the purpose of direct paging, assuming it can only address the 0 bank? In other words (I'm pretty new so please pardon the amateur questions) what's in the 0 bank? VRAM, dedicated hardware registers or what? What can I possibly use dir...

Re: Have people changed their minds about Satoru Iwata now?
Maybe I'm old and can't get over the fact that my "Golden Age" was yesteryear and is never coming back. Just like run and guns and shoot em ups... :( As long as that love lives inside you, they are never dead. Build the future you want to see! YOU HAVE THE POWER. Probably the most inspira...

Re: Have people changed their minds about Satoru Iwata now?
The problem is, how many quality "childish" games on the PC are there? I've mostly only seem mediocre indie games. Eeh, I think that's the thing about PC: It has everything that isn't exclusive to a modern-generation console. You can easily emulate almost anything over a decade old at thi...

Re: Direct page issues...
Oh, okay. Well, uh, I've never used REPT or REDEF myself... I pretty much just write all my code out literally.
OH WAIT. I think this is your problem:

Re: Have people changed their minds about Satoru Iwata now?
For these friends as well, although they won't admit it, the colorfulness and kid-friendliness turns them off. [...] It's like Nintendo admits they build addictive toys, and Sony/Microsoft have this aura of sports-car or glass-case Hi-Fi sound system. The games on the latter typically have traditio...

Re: Direct page issues...
Are you using ca65? ca65 has some kind of messed-up direct page behaviour that I can never remember exactly what it is, since I use WLA. As far as I can tell your code should be working.

Re: Have people changed their mind's about Satoru Iwata now?
2. there's a cultural taboo against speaking ill of the dead with the exception of violent criminals. De mortuis nil nisi bonum. That particular taboo dates back before the english language and it makes sense to me. A dead person cannot defend themselves, thus any criticism of them is unfair. I don...
