Re: Mods' silent corrections to users' posts
I feel like edits may be made to titles so that readers have a better understanding of the thread they are going into and only support edits to posts that are blatantly rude or very poor, destructive advice. Otherwise, I don't like to see posts edited for reasons like grammar or spelling. Let the fo...

Re: DSP700 for SNESAPU
This is a tracker, yeah? I assume it export to SPC files.
I would finally finish my APU-based SPF player if it does. How about MIDI input? ~drool~
Gonna see if I can try it out now...

Re: AX5202P
I was looking to make my own boards and MMC3 has eluded me thus far, being as complex as it is in comparison to simpler mappers. I have a few CPLD's that I have been meaning to learn how to use. May as well start somewhere. Start with the discrete mappers first if you're working with a CPLD. MMC3 i...

Behold the magic of the web archive: http://web.archive.org/web/20140920232209/http://nintendoallstars.w.interia.pl/romlab/pmmc3.htm (Any time something's gone, try prepending the URL with " http ://web.archive.org/web/*/ " It doesn't always work, but when it does it's handy) Yes, it's an...

AX5202P
Anyone have any information on this chip, other than the fact that some bootlegs utilize it. Is this for MMC3 games? The chip was mentioned here, but the page seems down: http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?p=75678#p75678 Is there a dump of this chip or are there any replacement parts, pin-compat...

Re: the most strange MMC3 i ever seen
it was worth for chinese bootlegers to make profit with their pirates? big image: http://i.imgur.com/pPZK61o.jpg Looks awesome. I love these discrete logic versions of mappers. My only guess is that designing a board without a CPLD is less labor intensive. you don't have to program it so you dont n...

Re: What is this cap doing?
When I look at datasheets for the 7805 it shows a .33uF cap on the input and .1uF cap on the output. All I see in reference to these caps is "Input supply capacitor recommended for filtering noise on the input," and "Output supply decoupling capacitor for stabilizing the output."...

Re: What is this cap doing?
Decoupling of the input voltage. They may have revised the power supply included with the system to have better internal decoupling, as so to save money on the console.

Re: What happened with Miracle Piano rev-engineering?
The first 6 keys of "Rap > Percussion" play as you hold down. Those aren't noise though, but they are from an Effects instrument. Also, the applause noise loops as it's held down, and that IS noise. Thanks, I'll have a listen to applause. I have elected not to open it back up to probe out...

Re: What happened with Miracle Piano rev-engineering?
Begin associated with percussion actually makes sense. OUT4 could potentially be a white noise output. White and Pink noise are used as the tones for percussion effects. That would also makes sense why it is not filtered as much as OUT1-3. ...perfect sense in fact! I don't think so. All of the perc...
