Re: What's the function of different snes chips is their a g
Ok so trying to understand the components on snes better. I get mask roms and pinouts go here and there. What do they really mean? what is an a20 besides address line 20. Like what is an 74LS00 when you look at the pinouts on that it just says like 7 is a ground. Is there something I can read to lea...

Re: Hi, new to making repros and could use some pointers.
Well just tried to make Mario 3 Chaos Control and all I get is a black screen. I used Nintendo world cup as a donor. From reviewing the hall of shame cart it appears I may need to have w-ram? I am having a difficult time searching w-ram, not sure how to enter it in the search criteria in the databas...

Re: Hi, new to making repros and could use some pointers.
Well it requires a 27C020 for the prg and a 27C010 for the chr and according to what both refernces I posted show I would wire it exactly as the one that is shown in the hall of shame is wired. I don't understand what he is talking about. In the link I provided form this forum it states: http://nesd...

Re: Hi, new to making repros and could use some pointers.
Ok so can someone explain this to me? According to Callan Brown found here, http://callanbrown.com/index.php/advanced-mmc3-nes-reproduction and according to the pin outs written here: http://nesdev.com/NES%20EPROM%20Conversions.txt The wiring for: TKROM & TSROM (mapper 4): PRG socket: Bend up pi...

Re: Hi, new to making repros and could use some pointers.
found out what I did wrong ...ahhhhh. I soldered my prg in backwards and didn't even notice the 2nd time, only after using a donor I know works I really looked over everything.

Re: Hi, new to making repros and could use some pointers.
Now it kills the power to my nes when I try to load it. You shorted power to ground somewhere. Well do you think I did it or was it incompatible? It's weird it works now after I put old roms in. Unless there was a stray piece of solder or something under the eproms I couldn't see and I found out af...

Re: Hi, new to making repros and could use some pointers.
Just put the old roms in and the game works.... so must not be compatible.

Re: Hi, new to making repros and could use some pointers.
Sigh... Just tried making a repro. Put a TLROM-3, mmc3c mapper game onto a TLROM-2 w/ a sharp mmc3b as I read the sharp were compatible. Now it kills the power to my nes when I try to load it. I looked it over and can't find any shorts at all. I'm about to pull the chips and toos the old ones back in.

Re: Does nes donor board actually matter? Is it just the chi
Well what I was getting at is boards are designed based on the components they have. I guess they go hand in hand. However A board that houses a mmc3c as compared to a board that is mmc3b would be identical correct? However the mappers are not and depending on whether it is sharp or not will depend ...

Re: Hi, new to making repros and could use some pointers.
Can you swapbin nes roms? I was just making some snes repros and was noticing the same pins needs moved as when doing nes repros. It got me wondering if you can cut the snes rewiring down to 2 could the same be done with nes on the tlrom boards?

Does nes donor board actually matter? Is it just the chips.
Just researching donor boards more and it seems as if the donor board itself is not what matters. I was trying to figure out the big difference in boards such as TLROM-03, -02, and so on. http://nesdev.com/rom.txt From that sheet it appears as if the boards themselves are not what matters most but w...

Re: Hi, new to making repros and could use some pointers.
It worked. I tried it w/ a diff chip and this time found the exact chip device m27c801 instead of generic 27c801 and I didn't have the quarts covered this time. So either the device media, chip itself, or covering the quarts was causing a failure? I will try the other chip again later.

I have the xdelta patch he provided. I used the no header and patched a Mario land rom using xdelta. the file has no ext. It is just a file 1024kb
