Re: ADP-054 suddenly doesnt work anymore?
I have one left if you do need one. Just PM me. I never really liked Willem / GQ Programmers. They are very unreliable and its adapters are even worse. Thanks anyways, I ended up just ordering another but wanted to find out if there was a way to fix the old one, maybe a commonly known issue that ha...

ADP-054 suddenly doesnt work anymore?
I have used this to burn about 15 Sega Genesis eproms. Randomly I went to blank check the next eprom and it failed the check instantly. Tried again on the next chip and every chip now fails. There has to be a reason for it, I don't imagine it's just randomly so dead that I need to order a new one. T...

Re: any public files to have new NES or SNES PCBs made?
What we have are schematics. Famicom schematics have been available for a while, and I don't know about SNES ones. From schematics, though, a board must be laid out and a bill of materials drawn up. These are a considerable but not insurmountable effort. Most of this sort of work is kept private. T...

boards with 2 mask roms + 2 27c040 = 1MB?
can you use one of those snes boards with two mask roms to use two 27c040 to create a 1MB repro? I know people would usually use them to make a 2MB with two 27c801 but I have none of those and many 040
if you can, how would I split the rom?

Re: first snes repro is only 512k. question about swapbin
Yeah, that's correct. If I used 27c040 I wired accordingly: Bend up pins 1,2,24,30,31 Pin 1 = NC Pin 2 = Hole 24 Pin 24 = Hole 31 Pin 30 = Hole 1 Pin 31 = Hole 2 Finally got around to trying this and it worked great! Took me forever of googling to find out what NC stood for... For anyone in the fut...

Re: SNROM issues all around
in that case doubling is fine/recommended. how are you doing your wiring? do you use your 4 megabit chips for other 2 megabit games? do you have any trouble with those? I wonder if it's a quirk with famirom. I wouldn't expect that to be a common usage scenario, although there's nothing about it tha...

Re: SNROM issues all around
Putting a 256 KiB program on a 27C040 or 29F040 requires splitting off the iNES header and then doubling the result. Or you can instead not double the PRG ROM and then ground A18. Can you explain the not doubling part more? Does this mean just doubling the Rom using famirom will cause issues if you...

Re: SNROM issues all around
what chips are you using for the 256KB games? famirom should tell you to use a 27C020 or bigger and it should only be splitting, not doubling anything (* if you're not using oversized chips). How big is the output file? How are you wiring up the chips? 27c4001 and 27c040. Same issue on both. Famiro...

SNROM issues all around
so I have made over almost 30 repros for myself now and the only problems I have ever had is with SNROM boards. only 1 has ever worked for me and that was when I made outlands. I made a sweet home, cocoron and a mega man 2 rom hack and none of them work right. with the mega man hack and cocoron it w...

made a repro of cocoron and it's randomly restarting, freeze
so this is about my 20th repro I'm adding to my collection and it's actually the first one to give me problems. It plays fine at first but then it will randomly restart. when you get to the point where the elephant thing floats up on the pink screen JUST before you make your character it freezes eve...

Re: Failed Verify on FM27c040Q
Does the programmer have some sort of self-test you can run? Or a testing mode where you can manually check the voltages (I know the Willem programmers support the latter). Datasheet says VCC must be 6.5V, and VPP 12.75 during programming, you can test that with a multimeter while it's programming....

Re: Failed Verify on FM27c040Q
I looked in the datasheet and Q is the package type, it stands for "Quartz-Windowed Ceramic Package". For programming, the package doesn't matter. Not sure what else I can advise, I haven't used a GQ-4X. If it's in the listed of supported parts, then either the programmer is bad, or the c...
