Recommended assembler for NES development beginner [POLL]
I know the topic of preferred assembler has been discussed in-depth multiple times. There is even a poll here, on a very similar topic: http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9961 This question is different for one specific reason: This question does not concern what you use. This questio...

Re: Progress Thread - Isshokuta
P.S. this is how this game looks. Looks pretty good! It's exciting to see so many Compo entry threads popping up. May I ask, which one is the player character? Another idea was stopping the ability to keep progressing in the level from time to time, spawn some baddies, wait for all of them to be go...

Re: Current state of NESDev Main Page and Wiki
I think perhaps sometimes I feel like I need to be (too) vocal on matters like these because I'm one of the few people here without a programming background and I'd just like to make sure an outsider's opinion gets voiced on matters almost entirely concerning new, prospective users. That, and I feel...

Re: NES Screen Tool
I've been wondering this for a while, so I'm just going to ask, how feasible would it be to add zoom functionality to the NES Screen Tool Metasprite tool. I don't know if there's something different about my setup or what, but I don't see how one could do pixel perfect placement of tiles at pixel re...

Re: Planning
Hosting a table at a convention is a pretty hefty burden to task someone with, IMO. I think it sounds fun, personally. I'm in the country so I rarely meet new people in real life with the same interests. Plus I haven't been to Portland in years and I love that city. I'm just saying, I wasn't trying...

Re: Current state of NESDev Main Page and Wiki
Looks pretty good for a start. That doesn't mean I think it's ready to put up, but I feel like it's a good direction. Hopefully if we leave this up we'll get some of the more artistic members picking at it for a bit. I like the click boxes that change color when you hover. I think they should be the...

Good luck on your entry!
I don't know if anybody else will think the same, but I can't help but being reminded of this:
Hans Brix? Ah, no!

Re: Russian Roulette [Testers Needed]
Is this going to be a Compo entry? I was thinking so since you linked it from the Compo planning thread.
Just thinking this could be moved into the Compo 2016 subforum.

Re: Planning
All good points. If judging is too much of a workload to expect at a convention, then convention exposure would still be great for the cart release. What if we did judging first, and then at the convention, did a demo reel of all of the games, highlighting the winners? No way to make PRGE this year,...

Re: Planning
Here's a thought I had a little while ago.
How feasible would it be to reveal at a classic gaming convention, and get votes from the audience?

Re: Current state of NESDev Main Page and Wiki
Maybe a longer time before implementation? Making sure everyone has a chance to ring in. Looks like the topic was posted on the 27th and Bregalad is lost by the changes on the 28th. I doubt this one would affect people near as much though. Personally, I know when I first started, I had a lot of pess...

Re: Foreshortening is hard
I don't know if it helps, but I did it with this animation and I thought it turned out okay. NewHairFlipForwardAttack01.gif I didn't really have a particular method. I guess I start with a block of pixels and chip away at them until I don't see any improvements to make. I like to define "rules&...

Re: Current state of NESDev Main Page and Wiki
I find it very odd that the main page is outdated, not particularly useful, and containing incorrect information (Is this accurate? I've heard that it does.) Is it just waiting on someone to take the initiative to design a front page? Clean links to the forum and wiki would be much more helpful. I c...

Re: Vigilante Ninja (edit)
square foliage Are you talking about the foliage at the top or the platform foliage in the middle? I meant specifically the foliage at the top. I just thought what pubby did added a lot to the image. I can understand though that you'd be reaching the point of diminishing returns for the project. I ...

Re: Mods' silent corrections to users' posts
So let me confirm that I have your order correct: Move your post through Bregalad's, except for INL's, into the topic Freedom fries, and revise your first moved post to reflect the split by linking to the previous topic, This would seem fitting to me. including a rename to "Etymology of 'compo...
